I have a question. Does anybody know which mask was used to make the
Illusive Original Reveal Vader?
It is actually pretty sharp.

I am not sure that there was any specific mask that was used. But it is on par with a high numbered DPD in terms of sharpness. The neck is badly mis shapen also.

Here is one that has been modified. The face details are just as they came. Not very sharp.

Mike, do you have a few more pics that you could post of that mask from different angles?

Here you go....I really hesitate because this was my first try at anything prop wise....so be forgiving.

Mods to this helmet:
(since the question was in regards to a helmet in original condition)

I built up the top as it had just a cylinder shape to hold the dome on and no details. I sharpened the line going to the end of the nose from the cheek now that I think about it. I added real eye lenses and changed the grill also.

In the brochure, it looks super sharp and clean....in person it lacks.

Thanks sooo much!! I think you did a helluva job on it. I actually like the dust, it gives it that "archive" look to it. Thanks again for posting the pics. How's the helmet on that thing?

It has been modded too but it was like a really heavy DPD dome with a slight flare to the left side (looking at it)

I still have it but there is no way I'm showing the mod I did to it! :)

Did you get that term from me? :toothy

I have no problem seeing the bolts and pins in a "Reveal" situation. But when I see costumers do that because they think it would make them look more screen-accurate, unfortunately they look like Darth Frankenstein because the bolts and pins are now showing, and to make things worse, they don't have proper dome positioning to even begin to hide them. But they're not fully hideable either.

If you look at the tour suits -- no bolts, no pins.

If you look at the movies and try to catch a peek under the dome -- no bolts, no pins.

Again, I think it's important and intrinsic to a "Reveal" situation, but on a costume, it is entirely out of place, and unbeknownst to them, many Vader costumers actually look like this:

See....here it comes! :rolleyes

Well NHM, I was just getting into buying Vader props and I was dissapointed at how it didnt have any detail so I wanted a better display.

At the time I thought that the DPD was the best vader and wasnt even aware of a better helmet, just knew that they looked a little off even after I repainted them. I'd say it was mid to late 90's

I suspect that at least the faceplate came from the mold that the Gino ROTJ helmet came out of. Once Illusive got a hold of it they retooled it. That's my feeling based on seeing two of them in person.
