Despite being cast in soft foam, it actually retains a lot of detail sharpness. Also, tried photographing it with flash, which shows off the metallic sheen of the rub'n'buff pewter application.

Just got this today. A cheap, broken Sideshow T-700 bust. NIIIICE. Is really small compared to my foam cast skull, so I'm pretending it's for a female or juvenile type terminator. :)

Image

My plan was to sand down the grainy surface and then repaint it with chrome and then weather the hell out of it, but after seeing it in-hand, I'm not so sure I want to. It really looks great as-is, in my opinion.

In my daydreaming Terminator I've come up with the theory on the endoskeletons that they are printed or machined individually with the basic endoskeleton design beinig manipulated to have the skeletal shape of the person they are trying to imitate. So the Schwarzenegger endoskeleton isn't the basic form, but that basic form pushed into his proportions, so the basic form could be a fully symmetrical piece. I never really liked the concept of one endoskeleton fits all. That wouldn't explain the future war Franco Culumbo terminator who had a completely different build to and was shorter than Shwarzenegger. It would actually make sense that Skynet captured survivors, sampled their DNA to grow skin, scanned their body into the system as well as their skeleton shape, then formed the endoskeleton from that information, so they would create a perfect replica to infiltrate with. Though... since not many surviving humans were buffed like Schwarzenegger that could mean the data used was from an old source from before the war - a planned super soldier program that Skynet got access to when it was hooked into everything. (or to geek out completely: it was the info on Dutch from Predator, thus linking those two franchises together) :)

The Terminator, Alien, and Predator franchises always seemed to me to somehow be connected. I know Alien and Predator have already been connected, but so far it hasn't been possible to connect the Terminator franchise to those other two even though James Cameron tried to use Cyberdyne as the company for the androids in Aliens, but couldn't due to licensing issues, so he went with Hyperdyne instead.

I know, I'm geeking out. If I ever win a gazilion dollars I'll try and acquire the Terminator rights and create the future war as I think they should be. Create the story around exactly what Reese said in T1. :)
Well, one can dream can't they!? :blah

Hi guys,

I had the intention of taking it apart and stripping the paint off the T-700 bust, so I can repaint it the way I'd like it. I've had it for a bit now and haven't really taken any strides to work on it, as it turned out to be fairly cool looking as-is. Though, I'm not much a fan of the hammered paint look and the places on the bust where the paint has peeled off shows that the cast itself is clean and smooth.

Has anyone tried to strip the paint off one of these and may know which stripping agent works best on getting the paint off quickly without damaging the underlying resin? Also, do anyone know if it is possible to take the bust apart and can share how they did it, as I need to pull it apart to fix the lighting fixture. Has it been screwed or glued together or both? If taking it apart isn't an option, then I would at least try to strip it and get it repainted.

I found this picture recently of what I believe show a similar cast to mine. Likely one step up in the lineage chain as mine is clearly a 2nd or 3rd gen cast from a cast like in the below picture. I doubt mine is from the original SWS mold as there are two mold lines on my cast, but whether it's a cast of a cast (3rd gen) is unknown. This skull is a one-piece where the upper teeth extend down over the lower teeth and the way the SWS cast is "cut off" at the base is very similar to how mine is "cut" and leaving the underside of the jaw and skull blank.

I can't believe my luck. I may have scored an authentic LFS endoskeleton kit. For anyone not knowing what that means, I can tell you it's about the best available full endoskeleton kit available, but they are really rare. This is beyond awesome.

Had these pictures since 2010, but never made the connection until I looked at some specific details. The blob in the right side front upper jaw piston hole, the soft detailing in the eye sockets, as well as the missing rear cover behind the chip cover, as well as the location of the seamline slapped me right in the face as being similar as on my soft foam skull. I wonder if this skull, or one like it was the source for the cast my skull was molded from? The reason I think it may be a different skull out of the same mold that made this one is because the two nose bridge tabs are broken on the SWS flesh skull photo and on my soft foam skull and isn't broken on the below one, while the one shown below has the center ridge broken inside the nose hole, which I have listed as a T1 reject skull - photos are from eBay.

Though, seeing as this one has the faint seam line as mine has... maybe the foam skull was made directly in the SWS mold? Seeing as the casts are made in two pieces - top skull and jaw, then joined together, filled with clay or whatever in the SWS mold picture, and my skull only has the faint line on the top skull part, while the rough one continues down across the jaw!? It only has the two mold lines... if it was copied again, the new mold line must have been placed exactly on the second on, as there isn't a sign of a third mold line. It could still be a cast of a cast and not direct from the SWS mold.

Seriously... the mystery thickens... and the fact that I can't seem to find any info about the SWS piece or the mold or my skull is really strange. Where are all the Terminator endoskeleton experts?

That skull looks very intriguing. I like to see and collect Endos, but my knowledge on them is not that good alas.

Thanks, it still waits for a good 1/4 or 1/3 endo statue on the other side of the endoarm
