Hello,
I am starting this thread to share informations about the vader MPP based sabers, used in ANH, ESB, ROTJ and Rogue one.
Based from what I get, I made a list of variations on genuine MPP flashgun.
From top to bottom:
-2 versions of shrouds, one step or flat front, some variation in lenght (shorter, with a straight cut can be seen), the right version is the flat front, used on ANH ( Two different sabers) and rogue one lightsabers
-2 variations of bulb retainer entry, rounded or sharp, the variation used on vader lightsaber is round, at least on the esb-rotj version with electric wires and on the rogue one saber, I have no idea about the first ANH lightsaber.
-variation on bulb removing aluminum button, from thin to thick rim, the one used on vader saber is thick
-flat or rounded bolts to maintain the black activation box, at least on ESB-ROTJ and rogue one sabers, it's a flat version
-white or black button on activator box, black is used, and most common version too.
-small or large "B" hole, in ESB ROTJ, it's a large one, seems on ANH it's a large one, but small hole on rogue one.
-large or narrow opening clamp, with longer bolt on large clamp, of course, the vader used narrow clamps that were tapered to close even more.
A large opening clamp won't fit a bubble, too large.
-white or black sleeve under the clamp, there was a black one on vader lightsabers.
-"3 circles" or plain black ring on pommel, the vader ESB and ROTJ has a 3 circles, as the rogue one lightsaber, no idea about the ANH saber.
here is a first picture explaining the clamp, and how the bubble strip fits ( ESB-ROTJ, ANH v2, probably the ESB lightsaber is the ANH V2, this is my idea, but not sure)
I will post my other pictures later (mpp variations, and real vs replica, and of course pics of original props.
