wow! looks good. the only thing that bothers me is the finish on your dome. there should be brush strokes in it. but wow, very good looking vader!

Agree with dark knight, there should be brush strokes visible on the dome.
The rest looks very nice.Good job.
May i ask ,where did you have the damage on the helmet?

Hi and thanks.
Can someone post a picture of the brush strokes on the Dome because I'm just not seeing them in any of the reference shots I have or can see on here. I don't have access to the privileged area and maybe they are there? :thumbsup

.. I don't believe the dome (or any of the black paint) was brush painted to be honest. The gunmetal obviously was, but the streaks that sometimes show up on the dome particularly over the eyebrows look much more like abrasions from polishing to me.

You've done an excellent job with this project Mark, good job!

thanks Jeremy and Joe,

I thought the same about the black. I haven't found any pictures or screen grabs from myself or others that digest the black was brushed on. On this helmet, and it doesn't show particulary well on the pictures I have left sanding marks etc under the paint to give it a rougher look. This is all I got from my research.
Again if anyone has pictures showing these brush marks then please post or pm me and share via email if they are not common knowledge.
Thanks.

I could try and make some screencaps from my hdtv files. you can see brushmarks during the tantive iv scene pretty well iirc.

Excellent work Mark. That is easily one of the best restoration jobs I've ever seen done on a vader helmet. :thumbsup

That's not brush strokes. That's leftover fingerprint grease from when they were wiping the helmet after fitting. If it was brush strokes it would be consistent in every shot, but it is not. Just a lot of wiped fingerprints. All black was sprayed.

that could be. i never thought of that. this picture is why i thought it was brushed due to the way the dome looks.

Don't do anything until you've shown it off in great detail.

Is this any better? I roughly sanded the dome before repainting it and repositioned the dome a bit......
