Not to derail, but where did you hear this? Is TE back in business? I'd imagine that the current owner of the TE molds would be a bit pissed!?

You're off topic! Bwahaha! Anyways, I'd ask anyone interested in discussing this to start a new topic. I didn't realize there was so much animosity among the TK makers, as to who owns what mold, who accused who of destroying said mold so their mold would be "the" One, etc.

TE is the ONE - pretty much one of the only people who have copied original helmets... and most other fan made helmets link back to his helmets in one form or another.

Some time ago... can't remember exact date... TE put all his molds up for sale as he wanted out. The new owner continued the name, though now known as TE2. Then TE began offering the "Set for Stun" fiberglass helmets... and now these HDPE helmets.

TE SOLD his molds... so where did he get these new molds from?

Guess he didn't want "out" as much as he claimed at the time.

TE2 doesn't sound that upset by it, so I'm guessing they are cool.

Sweet. Was just wondering. All is good then. :thumbsup

So... anyone getting one of these? I'm definitely tempted... though... it would pull out money put aside for other stuff. Tough decisions. :lol

How are you gonna paint your SFS? Pristine or like the original?

I may consider doing this one as an ANH bucket and then re-doing my AP as a ESB. Then all I need is a RotJ... but seriously... there are so many other helmets that are pulling in me... :eek

It's painted like the original by Matt himself.
I was under the impression that the HDPE helmet is shaped like the Move Along helmet.

I believe the "Move Along" helmet was commissioned by a buyer to be like that. The helmets are the regular, iirc, TE helmet.

I've always loved the TE design except for the rear skull ridge alignment error where the ridge on the left side of the helmet (as you're wearing it) does not line up with the bottom of the black strip on the front.

On MEPD.Net in a thread entitled "Major Flaw on TE Helmet" you will see a grid of 9 photos. The bottom row of three is the TE and it illustrates this:

http://www.mepd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2409

User "Stormtrooper" states: "It isn't a trimming issue IMO as it can't be remedied by trimming it differently... it's just down to the way the helmet has been vac-formed. "

However, T*E (his user ID on whitearmor.net) said he has addressed this on this new "30th Anniversary" release. However, he conflicts with "Stormtrooper" as he dismisses this as a trimming issue.

Well my thoughts on the HDPE helmets TE is doing is i wont be wanting one really for the simple reason i see no point in having a HDPE helmet because the material he used is the wrong colour a beige rather than a greenish colour.
For me the only point in having a HDPE would be to make it looked old and beat up like an original with paint flakes etc showing the HDPE otherwise you arent going to see any difference between the HDPE and the styrene ones.
As far as the mistake goes with the cap/back ridge im not convinced it is a mistake its an assembly thing heres a part of a screencap i posted on the thread on mepd.net it shows that at least one helmet in ANH was constructed in the same way

He's doing it in three different colors: khaki (tan), green and grey

Though, you have to mention it when ordering... otherwise you'll just get a random color helmet.

Pictures were posted at whitearmor.net but you have to be a member to view them, though.

Re-posted the pictures here:

(Will take them down if asked.)

If they already come assembled, then how does one go about painting them?

Spraypaint it white. :lol Seriously, there's no need to paint it in pieces. Paint the details, add the trim and lenses and you're done.

No telling what the green is gonna look like. I think the best way would be to do it like that guy did on his website. Somebody posted a link here not too long ago. He mixed up a custom undercolor and sprayed that on first. I remember painting a tank model years ago. I used a color called kakhi or desert something or other and it had a greenish hue to it that looks very much like the HDPE color. It was Testors brand.
