Okay, started buying parts for the skull.

Bought the Dubro 4-40 Steel Threaded Rod Ends, but accientally bought the Dubro 4-40 Solder Kwik-Links instead of the 2-56 - I'll order those soon. Looking for the right diameter ball bearing ball size - the ones in the Sideshow T-700 bust aren't even balls, but just small ovals and the pincher parts look weird.

Anyone know what size Torq-Set screws were used on the side of the jaws for the T1 skull and which type screw and size was used for T2?

And I need help with figuring out the correct sized Mac Master-Carr jaw piston parts - Hinged Threaded Round Standoff male/female parts - as I don't really understand imperial measurements and haven't found a retailer here in DK or Europe. Another thread on the forum seems to indicate this size - 3/16" OD, 1/4" x 3... something is cut off, so it's hard to make out exactly what it says in the picture. There are two versions of the parts - a short female part version that goes into the bottom jaw and a long female part version that goes into the main skull. And for some reason the bottom hinged part seems uneven in size - did they machine the part not connecting to the skull smaller or are they available like that as well?

Also wondering whether the main body of the jaw pistons is a RC car or airplane part. Anyone know what it is?

According to the seller the top skull part isn't from LFS, but he sadly cannot remember where he got it from.

Bummer. Just learned that the Danish retailers of Alclad 2 products has seized import due to new chemical restraint rules. So now I can't use the paint and primer I wanted for the endoskeleton. None of the other chromes I've seen looks right. Either too "plasticky", "looking too painted on" or too "mirror like in finish, so not looking like chrome".

CRAP.

EDIT: Anyone know if the AMMO MIG paints from Spain are identical to Alclad paints? It states it is licensed by Alclad... but does it measure up?

Well. Got permission to scan my kit. So at least that's secured.

Worked on some models of the pistons based on rough measurements off the LFS kit. Will refine things later once I get the calipers working again, so I can get it down the the millimeter. The three first models has the angled lip down at the bottom be too long - it needs to be the same as the thin ones, and I need to add some angling at some of the indents, instead of just going straight in. It may just be an artifact of the molding and casting process softening those corner edges or it may be the way they were sculpted, but it's on the kit, so I'm going to replicate it like that.

Working on the Terminator Endoskeleton jaw pistons. There's a major difference between the M1 and the LFS version. Since M1 scratchbuilt many things for their kit, I'm sure they created the jaw pistons as well.

It's a WIP, so some of the parts on the M1 piece hasn't been scaled correctly, such as the thin rod and the two interlocking sections at the bottom.

M1 on the left and LFS on the right.

I refined the LFS one a bit as I remeasured everything. Of the two top protrusions, the top one was a little thicker and the lower one came out a little thinner, but there seems to be a clear difference between the jaw pistons.

And I did a new piston. This one was the most difficult because I got caught up in recreating the details inside the hole on the side - an area that will simply be filled up with a piston oil hose, so completely unnecessary to recreate. I will have to stop myself from doing detail work on areas that will never be seen.

Anyway, here's a line-up of all the pistons + the LFS jaw piston.

I've got my eye on you.

...

Or something.

Anyway... here's an eye.

Image, on Flickr

I made the lens opening at the top 11mm, with a slightly smaller inner diameter about one and a half millimeter down. It should be easy to make that ledge sit deeper to accommodate the lens.

I almost made the rookie mistake of not saving before royally screwing up yesterday, almost loosing hours worth of work... on that stupid grid model I created solely to create those grooves. The model itself looks interesting in and of its own, but it will never really be used for anything.

Anyway, enjoy and if anyone has any input or can see any issues, please let me know. The LFS eyes are flat above the top groove, so the circle doesn't continue forward until the lens opening. But reference of several endoskeletons shows it should be there. If people want the LFS option it is easy to just sand the front down a bit.

Worked a little on the jaw piston models. I found basis for each version - especially on the main part where the lower top ring is found in several thicknesses, so I tried to emulate that. They may even be as thin as the M1 kit, but I decided not to go that thin with these. I went with half the thickness between the LFS and the M1 for the thinnest one.

Also, there are T1 and T2 variations. The first one shows the T1 style of the lower connector not having as long a shaft as I see in the T2 onwards versions.

There are a few of the models I'm not entirely happy with yet. The model connecting the smaller angled section that goes up towards the nose, I simply cannot yet figure out how to model... as the shapes I'm seeing are angled and curved in all sorts of directions. Such a small piece and such a big headache.

Enjoy - M1 style not included. First one is the completely thin style, middle are some styles I've seen on T2 display pieces, with the third being pure LFS and seen on the Universal Studios T2-3D display endoskeletons:

No. It's an actual LFS kit from USA.

And the 3D models are made in Denmark. :)

Started work on the foot pistons.

We almost have a complete big toe section. I just need to figure out how to do the egg shaped piece between the toe and 2 pistons as well as the 2 types of connectors.

Probably looks a little more recognizable now. I hope.
