I don't know until I get the parts to the producer.

Worked on the RotJ chest box in earnest today. Was under the impression it was very similar to the ESB with just a few greeblies removed, but it really isn't and there are a few different versions - I just picked the one I liked. Though the real box isn't as straight as my old box, I still decided to use it as it looks closer than the wonky ANH/ESB box model a friend made for me. I may still do some tweaks, but I'm pretty happy with the look and placement.

Was suggested to me so I tried tapering the model so it is smaller in the front, while keeping the rear dimensions as they were.

I actually noticed that the stickers with the text were different from ESB. Basically the top one was the same, just turned upside down, while the bottom one was the ESB middle one moved down and again turned upside down. The middle one is all new and I need to find good reference of it so I can get it replicated on the model. Currently it just has the bottom ESB one moved up and made smaller.

The top greeblie that sits between the two lights may in fact be the middle one down at the rocker switches on the ESB box instead of the top one above the lights just moved down and turned around 180 degrees. Still uncertain about that, so if anyone knows, I'd love to hear it.

Here's a shot of the non-tapered and tapered RotJ box.

No. But people who have made reveal parts in the past and have 3D models can easily have them scaled down and printed out in 1:6 scale.

I finally heard from the printing company. They are now preparing the models for printing. Apparently they require a little more work than usual, so I guess I went overboard and didn't prepare things properly. I've asked them to give a list of things I can do myself in the future so it won't give them so much work.

It took a while, but I've gotten the print ready models back for review. It's actually the first time I've seen one of their prepared models and it is interesting to see and now I understand why things take so long with my models, as the finished models I made had lots of greeblie parts sticking into each other and into the surface of the main pieces. On the print ready models only the outside surface remains, fusing the greeblies to the surface and removing everything on the inside. This has informed me of a few things - I need to limit the amount of stuff sticking inside the main outer surface, so I can easily simplify for instance the grill model inside the mask. And having seen what they do, I can now try to make things easier for them in the future and try and connect as many greeblie pieces as I can to the main surface, instead of just letting it stick inside, as separate surfaces intersecting. I probably won't be able to do it on the more complex greeblies, but the simple ones should be easy to do and will cut down the costs on what they need to do to prepare the models a bit.

Okay, heard back a few days ago that everything has been printed and was queued for clean-up and that I would get some pictures of the lot soon. YAY. Can't wait.

In the meantime I have been working on the RotJ boxes and here's the finished result. They are similar to the ESB, but the greeblie placement isn't the same as the ESB boxes I did. It's much easier to find chest box reference than belt box reference for RotJ. For some reason most pictures cut off right above the belt and when they go lower he's usually holding his hands at the belt buckle, covering the boxes. Thanks to all those who shared pictures of RotJ belt boxes. I really appreciate it. :)

Wow, they look fantastic. Was there any cleanup, or were they delivered that clean?

They haven't been delivered yet. They are still at the 3D printing factory. They always send a picture so I can see if everything looks fine before they ship out. I'm waiting for a picture of the front of the domes, to see how things look.

There was a bit of clean-up, but that's usually only supports and getting rid of excess printing resin. I asked them not to mess with the imperfections on the 3D models or prints, as those are intentional and they've never done that on the past prints they've done. They are sharp and pristine and exact to the scans.
