Hi all.

Looking to strip the paint off my EFX Vader Limited as I'm going ahead with a full Re-Paint. Love the Helmet, but the Paint Job has always bugged me, so feel the Helmet will take on a new lease of life with a full strip down.

I've seen images of someone a few years ago who has done this (can't for the life of me remember where I've seen them) so know people have done it.

Am I best off sanding, or using a paint stripper? I know Fibreglass is porous so not sure if the latter is safe to do?

Look forward to hearing some expert advice.

Cheers,

Kris.

Paint stripper definitely. We have a product here in the US called Goof Off and they have a Graffiti formula that I've used numerous times. It's safe for fiberglass. Don't know if the brand is available or what the clisest alternative would be.

Cheers,
Dave

Goof Off doesn't hurt fiberglass at all?! Gotta try me some of this.

Goof Off Graffiti formula says on the can that it is safe for fiberglass. I've used it with great success on several helmets though I've had two where it wouldn't eat into the paint at all but, so far, no softening or eating into fiberglass.

You could try acetone, works well in the most cases.

If not careful, acetone will dissolve fiberglass though!
