There is one thing I noticed in the grey paint used on the helmet. There is no metallic sheen in it. Its just a regular grey with gloss added to it. I have always thought the gunmetal used was metallic, but it is not. When I first saw the face I was like Oh yeah that IS the gunmetal used in at least ROTJ. It just has the "look" of a finished screen used helmet more so then any other helmet with a metallic gunmetal.

The paint colour looks really nice, also if you use the the clear coat finish on top.
I really not care in that case if the real helmets had clear coat or not.
A lot of those old paints back in the 70's and 80's also had lead alloys, which may could also explain why those helmets look shiny, if polished up.
As this kind of paints are no longer be made, clear coat is a good way to replicate the look as well.
You can play with it by just adding more or less clear coat.

I decided to go for a very thin clear coat on the Jedi version (which i than polished) and non clear coat but polished on my TM ESB helmet.
Both look nice, but different in each own. So it's nice to look.
