Thanks guys. Have been filling the seams and sanding down the filler, so I can eventually prime it and make it look really pretty. Will hopefully get to work a little on it next week. I'll try to use the filler to sharpen up the edges a little, as they are a bit soft right now, but not by much.

Can't wait to see this one finished.

The helmet scanned was a TM helmet.

Have been working a little more on sanding the filler down. Only really need to sand between the tusk tubes now and a few minor areas, but then I'm done with sanding for now. I am unsure whether it would be a good idea to give it another layer of filler or whether I should just switch to the filler primer now instead, as it will probably be easier to work with and the face mask is solid enough already that I'm no longer that afraid to actually handle it.

Thanks. Not sure whether I'll be able to work more on it this year. I'll try, but there are just so many other things I'm working on and need doing, that I feel I can't really put aside time to work on something as time consuming as this.

Sanding was done yesterday and I gave it the first two shots of filler primer. The print lines are really showing up and the seams look like huge gaps, but that's normal for the first few coats of this primer - it exaggerates the details that are on the surface, but when you sand it down everything goes really smooth and the next layers of primer will look much better. I will tape it up so only the seams are visible and start spraying those areas to fill the seams soon. Just feel like taking it easy for a bit.

That's pretty f---ing cool. I've often thought about
doing a symmetrical Vader since I absolutely hated
the Ep. III Vader helmet. But I was going to just
sculpt it. I often wonder what what things should
come across and what things should not, since
the original helmet is basically all just bent up. I
feel it shouldn't look like one side or the other just
somewhere in between. But that is totally cool job
that you got going there NMH keep going. I'm looking
forward to seeing the end product.

:cheers

Oh, I can't take credit for this work. Sure, I had access to the scan and started the project, but the work was done by an excellent 3D modeler who really made it happen. I'll check and see if he's okay with being named, as I feel he deserves most of the credit for this.
