So , I am making my own chestbox from scratch for a ESB Vader and I was figuring out how to do the lights.

Certainly Fettronics is an option but I found out that with arduino controller and some coding I could have some custom sequences and was little cheaper (hard work though).

I don’t know where everyone got the sequence lights but after watching the movies closely it seemed to me they look nothing like the movie. And yes i know about the 23 step sequence, I think they are wrong.

So I made own video study that I want to share. So let me know what you think

Cool. I don't think there is any definitive light blinking sequence. No one has had access to the original props, turned them on and confirmed the sequence - and if they have, they haven't shared it publicly. Most of the sequences you find are based off studying the movie and trying to determine the sequence and if one part fits into another. Coupling bits and pieces together to create a sequence that looks close enough.

It's one of those things where nothing has been locked down completely, as far as I know.

There are several different blink sequences in the films and some shots show a half lit coin slot. Not sure if it was intentional or a result of the different possible boxes but they are obvious and seem to be consistent in the different shots.

Anybody have and want to take a video of their Anovos box sequence ?
That should be accurate to ESB if China didn't screw it up.

Well it’s obvious there are different sequences between films, since they were years apart. But within one film, specifically ESB, it would make sense to have at least one box per location set. So for all scenes in a star destroyer set, the same box and sequence would have been used at a same location. And other box and sequence for the freezing carbonite set, other for Dagobah cave, and so on.

Only one box used during ESB to my knowledge.

Or at least only one hero box.
The manual way they hooked up each segment of each display is why there isn't any two things alike for any costumes that they made multiples of.

Nice thread. :thumbsup
Well where the sequence different between RotJ and ESB?

According to the nice comparsion video, it seems the sequence differs from scene to scene.
So would it be possible that the board just had a random sequence "programmed" ?
Don't know how it worked back in the 80's to build that stuff, or if that was possible in that time to build it this way.

....

I recently read on the RPF there was only one “hero” box, so probably the “stunt” box had programmed a different sequence.

Here’s a video of the Anovos box, which I think they did get access to the original props. And while the Anovos box doesn’t have fading lights or partially lit slots, the sequence has similar a lot parts to the sequence I determined from the movie.

Thanks to Kelvington for kindly uploading the video of his Anovos box

Cool. And kinda clever to use one of the colored boxes to turn it on. :)
