I have seen from Dark Side that the knobs from the first film have a diamond pattern on the sides. I for the life me cannot find any reference from the film that shows the diamond pattern, not that I am discrediting darkside I just want to see it for myself straight from the movie. Is there anything that show the diamond pattern from the movie?

From what I understand there is no clear image of the knobs on screen to show the knurling. However its has been confirmed by people with access to direct sources. As far as images of the prop belt boxes, I dont of any available to the general public.

Well, could be that no one has posted a reply because no one has what you are asking for. At least I don't. I've seen two post-production related photos, one from the "Chronicles" shoot and one of Kermit Eller in costume standing on front of Don Post Studios, which strongly suggest that the knobs are diamond cut -- I have no doubt you have seen these photos as they are very common. There is kind of a specular pattern to the way the light reflecting off of them is breaking up which seems inconsistent with a smooth cylinder. Keep in mind that even in high resolution they're pretty blurry.

If you are looking for a crystal clear screen-cap that shows diamond knurling I've certainly never seen one. The news was a revelation to me when I first heard it but looking at the photos it makes perfect sense. Since photobucket went phut I don't have a way to post the picture but I've tried to attach the best one to this post.

(edit--looks like Juan beat me to the post, lol, and he is correct)

:cheers

Dave

I was going through some photos last night and noticed in one behind the scenes photo you can get a pretty good impression of the knurling. This is from a photo I grabbed on the Star Wars 1977 FB page that has decent resolution. I've cropped and enlarged the belt boxes. Notice the box on Vader's left as it is in profile:

Hope this helps!

Here is the original photo almost as downloaded from FB. In order to make it fit the size limit for the 'Den I had to crop out the white border but no picture information has been lost:

I can tell you for certain that the knobs do have the diamond knurling, as well as a chamfered edge. I do have a semi clear shot of them somewhere here. If I can easily find it I'll post.
