Saw this helmet on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXIONi3KxLE

Thought it looked pretty good. What are people's thoughts on look and accuracy - regarding size and details?

I am no expert, but it appears enlarged a bit, especially front to back, perhaps to make it more comfortable to wear. I could be wrong in this instance, but Rubies is a Costume Co. and not known for a high level of accuracy or access to original props. Is Anovos planning on doing this at some point?

Interesting, I've never really studied the Guard helmet. I wonder if it's a re-pop of of the Don Post? The lens and finish look better with the Rubies at the very least. No idea about the shape.

It looks decent. There appears to be some lineage to the original or perhaps more likely, it used the Don Post for a start point as others have suggested.
As far as shape and details, I think the Don Post still beats this. Afterall it was created by moulding an original and doesn't have the soft area above the lens this one has.
Still, a decent offering.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I sorta thought it may link back to Don Post, but this one had the benefit of being made out of hard plastic, compared to Don Post's vinyl one - though, DP never did make a high end Royal Guard, probably due to the lack of sales on their other high end versions, but may have had a master cast or mold for it that Rubies is now using.

It's tough to do a guard right. The originals are done like most everything in ROTJ with two vacuum formed halves being seamed and painted.
The Don Post slush cast isnt super rigid but is probably better to wear than if they had done fiberglass because your head has to squeeze into it.
This rubies one looks like some sort of thermoplastic ? Probably the best approach of material but it's a shame the shape and details are a bit off.

Thats quite interesting. I still have my old Altmanns RG. It is vacuum formed in two halves and put together with the seam filled glued etc.. I never knew that was how the originals were done. How accurate is the shape of the altmanns?

Hmm, not sure about that one. Im not sure on any history of the Altmann stuff. At a glance the shape looks off to me but I'd have to really compare.
Cool that it's done like the originals though, I didn't know that.

There was a guy on the RPF who said that Alltmans was given access to real LFL pieces, but for the most part decided to sculpt his own. The Royal Guard however was, if I remember correctly, based directly on the LFL provided sample. I think their Scout helmet was too... but unsure on that one. I think he even had access to some of the molds.

Cool. Yeah Id heard he had some sort of access to original pieces but didn't know if there was any truth to it.
I'd love to see good pictures of the Royal Guard if anyone has them?
