The book is quite big, it's the angle of the photo ;)

:thumbsup

You've got to move six feet away from it and zoom in slightly to avoid unneccessary distorsion.....

That went awesome fast. Well handled. :)

I ordered my copy. There was a major VAT issue with amazon.co.uk on Girod's other Sci-Fi book, which they were incapable of answering why giving only standard replies to all things general about VAT - same reply from four different people, one of which even wrote the exact same thing twice - which wasn't what I asked, so I didn't order that one. Honestly, I'm so fuming fucking mad right now.

My copy arrived in Milwaukee yesterday from the UK Amazon website. It's just a ridiculous collection of concept art, promotional art, props, models, costumes. I also ordered their other book "Generations - Science Fiction" in tandem with "Star Wars - Objects Du Mythe". Both books are stellar.

So glad the owner of these pieces was open enough to share these pieces with the rest of us. If we can't/don't have a legit Star Wars museum, then this is the next best thing. The photographs are large, beautifully lit and captured. The detail is there.

Mine shipped from the UK, kinda disappointed neither books were shrink wrapped to protect the book covers. There's definitely a friction wear damage on the both book covers. For a book this expensive, shrink wrapping could have help minimize the damage during shipping.

The author owns some unique items. He has Han Solo's Hero Stormtrooper helmet, an ESB Stormtrooper armor and helmet, a TIE Helmet, various Rebel pilots helmets (Y-wing, A-wing etc.), a lot of alien masks (Cantina aliens or from Jabba's palace), ANH screen used Vader mask (the one everyone thought it was long lost), ROTJ Vader suit, many studio scales like AT-AT, A-wing, Snowspeeder, speederbike etc., plus a lot of vintage figures and cards and original art. Like I said the book is quite unique, a must have for a collector who is really interested in original Star Wars props, and not just in what MR or EFX released.

Does he own two hero Stormtrooper helmets or just the one? Because the only one that has been shown in his collection so far is actually Luke's original helmet. Which brings the total of surviving hero helmets to 4. Pretty amazing given the fact only 6 (supposedly) were made for the film. It would be incredible if he had both the Luke and Han helmets.

Ohh and thanks guys for letting me know about the stormtrooper items appearing in his book. Really appreciate it. Will have to pick this book up sometime! :cheers

Hey Fon. If I'm not mistaken, one Hero were converted into a ESB helmet, isn't it?

Hey mate. Yeah I'm not sure about that. That is the romour. I've not seen any evidence of this however. The only evidence I've seen as proof, were gainy screen grabs which were far from conclusive in my opinion. As it is Han's helmet and the one seen with the taped up mictip from the Tantiv Iv remain un accounted for. If one was reused for ESB it would have to be one of those two.

As everyone has said this book is fantastic.  It made it here across the ocean with only minor scuffs to the outside but otherwise in good condition.  At 417 Pages it's a beast and contains not just prop photos but many toys, collectibles, and rare photos I've never seen before.

I finally got to see the Vader picture where the lenses look green.  I have seen that sometimes with the amber lenses on the DP standard helmet.  I did some more testing and think I know why, it's the temperature color of the source light.  Amber lenses pass both red and green.   When the source light is cooler (5000-6000K) it seems to have proportionally more green than red compared to a warmer soft light (2500-3000K) which has more red than green.

This can be seen when lit from the front and more obviously when lit from behind.

Someone (RS Props?) should make a mould of the original helmet and produce the definitive ANH Vader helmet edition... Just a dream? :slp :toothy

I love what the guys do at RS Prop Masters, but I'd give that job to Mark at CFO (Cast From Originals). He did a stellar job with the GS Helmet.

And yeah. That'd be sick. :)

BTW. Anyone know what happened to the original screen used ANH helmet dome?

I'd recommend Mark too, but I doubt it will ever happen. The best option is simply to 3D laser scan it. That way you don't risk damaging the piece at all. But again, it won't happen.

I'm certain the owner will be the best option to answer the dome question.
