Anybody got more pictures of this one? This is one of the most interesting pieces in my opinion.

 When looking at the eyes, it appears to me that the lenses were installed to the shallow "ANH" profile lines rather than the deeper lines as per the TM casting. Left eye appears as a "maybe" but right eye looks definately shallow (IMO). What's your take on it?

( Hey Den crew, this is my "virgin" post on your site... How did I do? Not so hard after all :) )
Cheers
Mike

Yes, definitely not deeper sockets, as some other ESB helmets have. Also, I speculated this helmet to be the one seen at the end of RotJ just before Luke pulls off the dome to show the reveal mask.

Not everyone agrees with this and more indepth research is needed for a airtight confirmation. And there may be more to this helmet as well... but still too inconclusive to share the findings.

I remember seeing this helmet at Planet Hollywood in Taipei when I lived in Taiwan 2000-2001. It must have been "on tour" and at the time I didn't realise what I was looking at, and didn't even take any photos! :ac10

That's pretty cool. Shame about the pictures, but hope you enjoyed eating there. :thumbsup

It would be really cool if we could locate its current whereabouts.

Maybe we should just contact Planet Hollywood HQ and ask?

Well, I wrote to the e-mail they've listed on their webpage, but haven't heard anything back yet. If anyone has other ways of contacting them, that would be cool.

I'll be in Vegas soon, is this ESB Vader still at Planet Hollywood?

Here's an article by the guy who was responsible for the Planet Hollywood Star Wars display as set up in Orlando. It mainly focuses on the setup but also discusses prop selection and renovation and some nice close-up pics.

According to the article, the helmet with chest armor displayed was the ESB production. The standing full Vader also displayed was an ILM-made replica. The article also shows great pics of many other props and replicas, including nice pics of an ROTJ film-used hero helmet not selected from the PH inventory for this display.

Here's a link to a couple of pics in the article. First pic is ROTJ. Second row of pics from Orlando PH display. Last row of pics shows the ROTJ helmet and chest box (leftmost and rightmost), and the ESB helmet (middle two).

Will say that I am so glad the article makes sure to distinguish between the ESB helmet/ and armor being production and the figure being replica. Me, I was at ILM right when those Vaders were made for Planet Hollywood. They are the only Vaders I worked on (ever so slightly, mind you) and, while they were well sourced mold-wise, there are obvious differences in the paint work and such.

But important to make that distinction as far as provenance goes.
