Review:The expectation of this book was fairly high amid a slight comparison to the fantastic chronicle series.
Where as the Chronicle books are expensive, this retailed at £34.99 here in the UK.
We have had many incarnations of SW books over time and I wondered if this was another stale and lacklustre way to make us part with our money for another Star Wars book?
However, I’m pleased to say this is not the case.
This edition has enough content for the most part, widely spread over the original trilogy characters. The glossy images, which in general have been well photographed is a sight we should expect to see in this day and age additionally. The layout is well done and professional.
The description that complements each character would be somewhat interesting to a new comer. It’s not bogged down with heavy text which may make for a boring experience to the non hard core fan, which no doubt will enable a high enough market. Some characters are very well done like Boba Fett.
The book tries to stick with the facts. Often drawing recollections from the actual people involved such as Brian Muir, Joe Johnson etc..
The small downside is you will be left with wanting a bit more if you‘re a hard core fan that has a bit of knowledge already. Not just with the inspiration of the characters but with the actual props.
Just about when you are to despair, Darth Vader and the troopers get a welcomed expanded section later on in the book.
As a Vader fan this made the purchase that much better.
There are little significant close ups for the most part but I would say you get value for money as an overall purchase.
Verdict:The presentation of this book along with the glossy Images and beautiful layout make this a must have for Star Wars fans. More seasoned prop collectors or Vader fans may find the book to lack the level of information they hoped for but overall it's a welcomed addition and something you will likely not regret buying.
