Hi Defstartrooper....you know I really have no idea about the scheme as I've not studied the clones much. I'm way more an old school stormtrooper fan. I just might come up with something different altogether. If you have any tips on weathering something like this I'd really be interested.
As for the maker...I bought it off ebay from the_lemur_king it is a really nice clean cast. very little work involed in preping this bucket. It is resin and all the lines are sharp with no distortions. I could not be happier.
There is one of his for sale right now. One thing I will say is he is a little slow on delivery but he answered every email and cept me updated. I would recomend him on my exp. but could not speak for anyone else. :toothy

Have you got a link for the seller you can PM me ? i did an ebay search for them couldnt find them
I think my favourite clone variation has to be the shocktroopers the red and white fellas.
I would use masking fluid to simulate the scratches and stuff i've also seen people use toothpaste or mustard to do that.
As for weathering i've no personal experiance to talk of it's something i'm looking into though as i'm converting my TK to TD

I initially was set to buy one, but found out that it was a Master Replicas recast.

We mutually withdrew from the transaction.

If anyone can help me find a fan-sculpt, I'd appreciate it.

Awesome link SWC! One of these days I'll get around to doing a clone project. I had a roommate last year that was working on a JM helmet and a Mario helmet turning them into 501st helmets for some local garrison members. The JM helmet was big like the AFX TK lids. It accomodated most individuals larger than 6' tall but if you are smaller i would advise against it since you might look like a bobble head. No offense. The helmet is gorgeous though. The mario lid is very small and narrow. I could not begin to fit my melon in there. And I wear a hat size large. (7 1/4) I believe is my hat size. The fit was not even close. So I would only recommend the mario to those with very tiny frame and small noggins.

In the reply box... there are some features just above it. What you need to do is press "URL" once, copy and paste the link you want to insert and then press "/URL" again. And you'd have created a link! :thumbsup

Hi guys....Mac just pm'd me with this info today. I did not know that this helmet was an MR recast. Just wanted to let you all know....I'll work on this at some time in the future but thought I'd tell you what it was up front.

Yeah, I also want to go on record that T-VIRUS bought this without any foreknowledge of it being an MR recast, so please do not fault him. I'll stand by him.

I'm looking into an alternate source / fan sculpt for EP3 Clone Trooper helmets. Stay tuned.

Okay, found:

http://www.imperialsurplus.com/oscs.html

Did some research across three websites. Apparently there are a few players:

JM (Javamonkey on the RPF)
OSCS
Mario

The JM3 (version 3 of Javamonkey) apparently is larger than the MR. The OSCS is MR's size, approximately, but seems slightly more idealized. It's a kit that costs only slightly less than an MR, so you'll have to decide if you just want to invest a little more and get the MR, but from what I've read the internal padding makes the MR a tight fit and too hot to troop in for long periods of time.

The Mario is skinny and narrow.

Some feel the OCSC is very screen accurate. I've observed some nice aesthetics around the eyes on the OCSC (slight angling of surfaces) whereas the MR seems more flat around the eyes -- if that make sense. I love this aesthetic because it is as if eyes were first cut out of sheet metal, and then that sheet metal was bent to form the face. In real life the areas around the edges of the eyes would flare outwards just a bit, and the OCSC mimics that quite nicely.

Also, when contacting these people, ask what the state of their backlog is and if they are able to ship immediately.
