HI guys,

I have many nice Vader castings and all are in a raw state. TM's, TD/SL etc....

I was wondering how you fix the domes to the faceplates and in such a good position? I have seen many nice pics of said castings and always wondered how they were fixed..... Are they just propped up with a bit of foam and quickly taken or do yo have a better way? Any tips would be great.

I know that you cannot post high res shots of the details but that's not what I'm asking. Just a shot of the fixing method is all I'm interested in.

So if you would like to share how it's done please post.

Inverted Don Post Classic Action T mount with a lip at the back of the face mask placed in the dome, then with the area that touches the face mask lined with felt. I never got as far as felting my last attempt, but I will on the other cast, when I make the mount on that one. It created perfect placement every time - and this way you don't have to worry about frankensteining your face mask: you can just leave that one as-is to preserve authenticity. Of course, it isn't locked down with magnets or velcro, though, magnets could be an option to keep the dome and face securely tight, however, it was pretty secure when just being on display. Of course you couldn't swing the helmet around, naturally.

My raw Vader is proped up with a squashed pillow. Works perfect and with no mods to my cast which is what I wanted.

For ANH the face tabs align with the tabs in the dome and a wooden ledge (which some have been made out of resin) to give further support. Very few people do this properly as they keep it to themselves if they even know it, but it's been known for a number of years.
Most use the easy method. Foam pads 1 at each side hot glued in place and spray them matt black and use velcro to secure at the front either in the usual ESB/ROTJ style or in various areas.
