A little update.

I have done a lot on the helmet and i will paint it black in a few days, then its supposed to be finished...

I just have a little filling and sanding of the face mask, then its time for paint. It was a lot of work with the sunken in cheeks, i wouldnt do it a second time

I'm not sure how to remove the wax but when you figure out how. Try using polyurethane for the clear coating the dome, shines like glass. and is better at protecting the paint.

Also, can I send you mine for modification? Awesome job!

Thanks Stripe, im a little tempted to get a second rubies and see how fast i can modify it this time... but no :blah

Just wanted to show you what my helmet looks like at the moment.

I sprayed the dome with gloss spray paint, but it was a disaster so i decided to grind the hole dome. I wasn´t happy about the shape of the eyebrows and the center stripe, so i took the opportunity to fix it. Maby i will contact a local car-painter, so they can paint it for me.

I also sprayed the mask with gloss, and it was ok, but the gun-metal got a little darker. :rolleyes
I got new lenses and tusks from ebay and they look great

Actually... dark gunmetal isn't too bad. You can just say that you are emulating the RotJ look. :thumbsup

And definitely looking good with the brow detail on the dome. More shots could possibly show areas that needs more work, but currently looking good.

If going to a professional car painter - just have them paint with Rolls Royce paints! .)

Thanks Carsten,

I didn´t know ROTJ was darker than ESB... I have a lot to learn  But i think it can be more "movie like" if its dark.

I think its a good idea to take some close up shots of the bro line, so i can get some expert statements :cheers

Well, it was darker because the lighting on set was darker, not because it was a darker gunmetal, if that makes sense.
