Hi there

Just putting together my first helmet and don't have a clue what I'm doing really. I kind of figure that with 50 made for the film, all with slight differnces, all done as a rushed job, there's probably not much that can go wrong!

Anyway I wanted to get people's views on the eyes - are these looking about right? I worry I need to take more material out? Then again I think these kind of capture the spirit of the thing...

Nick

You can see the edge all around where you should trim to. It's a very clear bend, so I'd say you need to trim a bit more.

Yeah I think you are right. There are a couple of sceen caps where the trimming is simiar but on the whole they are cut out more aren't they. OK the knife comes out later tonight unless anyone thinks I should leave it!

I think you are not far from make it look good. It also depends what look are you shooting for. Keep in mind that most of them were made in a rush and somewhat sloppy way.

I hope this link helps you a bit, http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.p ... opic=16277

PD; I am exactly at the same stage you are with my PP RS helmet. I will try to post pics by tomorrow so you can use them as a reference if you like.

Is that a TE2?

The eyes look better. I'd still trim it a little further, however, I'm not too well-versed with troopers, so hopefully someone who knows and have studied them more will chime in.

Looking way better, still there is more room there for trimming those eyes a bit more but that's a personal choice.
I trimmed my trooper eyes already. If I get back home soon I will take some pics and post it.

Cheers

I agree looking better but a bit more.... Make sure you try and get the internal edge a similar thickness all round..... You can normally feel with your finger if the edge is flush with no flashing......

Thanks. I'll take a little more off but to be honest I'm seeing quite a lot of material left on the screen grabs so I'm feeling fairly happy with it. Really good point about the interior profile, cheers.

How do you make the photos display like that without using a host btw?
