Looks great big improvment indeed , when you paint the dome next just give it a nce light coat let that tack off for 15 mins then a good even heavier coat then leave it , it lookslike you keep comin back to it with light coats causing the sort of dusty look,

Awsome work on the tips to very creative

I'm learning on the job! The problem is that when I apply a wet coat at the end, I have to have some degree of overlap, and its this over lap which is giving that misty appearance. What you're seeing in the latest pics is base coat black shaded back with 1200, 1500, then 2000 grit, then buffed with compound. It turned out a little hazy. I've resprayed another coat, and am thinking of clear coating it next. Any advice?

The helmet is actually unrecognizable as a Rubies at first glance, which speaks to the success of your modifications.

You should definitely consider acquiring a spray can handle as it will give you a better spraying application - faster and more even. They come in different shapes and sizes, so just find one that'll fit the spray can you are using.

Good luck.

Hmm, a bit late, cos I've already done most of the spraying, plus I'm not sure if I can get those here in Australia. Sprayed another coat of black last night, will light sand, clear coat and buff after...
hand painted nose silver.

Looking good. In my opinion don't sand or buff.

They spray can handles can usually be found in paint or hardware stores.

Outstanding! That's one of the best Rubies conversions I've seen! :thumbsup
