This project started here, a few years ago: http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?s ... entry43205

Some weeks ago, a friend of mine asked me if, one day, I would be able to make an helmet for him.

He's not a hardcore collector of props or collectibles but enough fan of Star Wars to appreciate this kind of item!!

He's interested by a stormtrooper helmet, but his favorite character is the biker scout. First motivation.

Considering that his birthday is on May the 4th (it's not a joke) and that I don't have any idea of gift...I guess that an helmet could make a good present. Second motivation.

And cherry on the cake, EFX announced thanks to GINO that they will probably not release the biker scout helmet in vaccum formed plastic but more in fiberglass. Thus for hardcore collector like me, who wants the most accurate helmet...restart to 0. Third motivation (even if I don't pretend to make the most accurate biker scout helmet).

Thus I decided to took of my old molds from their boxes and started to rework them. Not only repair them, but make modification.

Here's a first test! The back and the visor are close to be the final design. The faceplate is the V1, modified with resin. I already started to rework the faceplate mold (reworked the snout area, the cheek, the lense opening, the length, etc...).
Not really happy with the decals which turned too much "blue" (damn inkjet printer!!)

Thanks guys.

I have to think about it. For sure, I'll make some extra helmets since friends asked for that. The next pulls will be made with modified molds (especially the faceplate). Thus I hope to make some helmets a little bit more accurate.

And if I'm happy, why not try the pinseal ABS (I already did it with ESB MK2 stormtroopers helmets).

I remember trying pinseal ABS for a MK2 storm helmet:

Not easy to form, especially due to the big size of the molds. Since the biker is "smaller" (the molds are way more small than a storm helmet), I guess that it would be easier to form.

My main problem is to find pinseal ABS. The sheets I used for the storm came from UK and was a little bit expensive :-s

Those 4 are looking great. They have the right look about them with the sun shield visor and lens trimming and everything. I'd love to own one of these, just as they are in that picture, as a sort of "construction" display piece.

Are they all taken?

Would it be okay to get a quote on what you charge from one of these built up to that state seen in that 4-set picture?

Really looks awesome.

Actually, I only plan to produce finished helmets. But I'll see if I have the time. I already have the plastic for some more helmets.
