Teaser pic's of the tabs and the center piece.
Want to make it in several parts to glue it togehter. It's not s heavy as a solid part.

Also i finish the shape of the sides.A lot of moulding, sanding, filling was needed that it look like this.
Now i think it should be done with a little bit clean up.

Houston we have a problem.... :grumpy

After all those work on the chinpart i now looked what i have to change that this piece will fit to the uppermask.
As i looked the last time , there were only a small difference.
Well...as it seems i can put that thing in the trash can now. :puke

I not wanted to post up pic's from the uppermask( for now), but cause i not could get in contact with the seller for several times( weeks) and not think to get help from this side i have decide to post some pic's up here.

Here you see the problem:

Gap :violent :fight

Both parts the upper mask and the chinpart came from an MR cast, so i realy not understand why the chinpart have gone so wide now.
The parts not sit in the sun neither on any hot or cold point.

There was a little gap at the beginning, not worth mentioning, but now.

So is there any suggestion to bend the chinpart back in postion?( and that it stays in that postion than)
As i can see both parts are inside layered with Fiberglas and the outside is resin.
So i guess it's a rotocast.

well, if there is the fiberglass inside and the resin resin out side, I don't think it's in rotocasting...
Normally, for the rotocasting, you should use polyurethane resin without the fiber.

So, I suggest to use a heat gun. With the heat, the resin became a little bit more flexible and you can bend it slowly.
But, you're really really careful, because you can brak it...
In your pics, the resin seems to be orthophthalic resin, so more hard

Many thank's fabrizo! :salut
Will give it a try. Have ordered a heatgun which is adjustable from 50° to 500° degree celsius.
Is there a "guarantee" that the resin will stay in this position than?

Should i make a new layer of fiberglas inside after i bend it?
Would guess thats the sence behind the fiberglas layer on that parts, the rigidity.
Therefore my assumption of a rotocast.

Well, you can not make a miracle with the hot gun :lol
But, if you put it in a vise, you haet a little bit and you press a little bit.
When it cools, it should be in position. Repeat more times, and every time press more.

As I said before, be very careful :thumbsup

watching better you pics, the collar seems to be bigger than the part above... as if it were not the same helmet...
If you squeeze the collar with the hands, goes into position?

Yep it goes,
As it seems , as i removed the fibergals layer( or better thinned it out ) inside as i worked on the shape , the resin moved outwards cause there was nothing what it hold back in postition.
As i get told from the seller both parts comes from an MR cast.
And before i started my work on the chin part, both parts fit's very good with only a little bit squeezing.

The scale of them still fit's perfekt in the chinpart.

You're making great progress Turrican - my own reveal has been going on on and off for over three years, there's such a feeling that you never ever want to go through making another one that it has to be as perfect as possible which can drive you nuts. The problem you had with the jaw appearing to spring open wider than the upper helmet upon separation threw me for a loop too - I didn't anticipate it at all. I ended up cutting the jaw down the centre, realigning it to the upper mask and filling/ fibre-glassing -reinforcing from behind.

Image

I'm almost finished now, but it's been madness. Looking forward to your next updates :)
