I've had these shots for a few years now, so I figured some of you might enjoy them. Some good, some crappy due to lighting. They are pretty big size shots though. I'll be posting something similar on the ESB Vader stunt display as soon as I can get them all in one album. Enjoy.

Any background on this lid? Where was it at when you snapped the shots?

You're welcome guys.

Here's the scoop on the helmet from Jez's site:

http://www.starwarshelmets.com/newESBChristies.htm

At the time I took the pics, the helmet was on display at the Henry Ford Museum in Greenfield Village, Michigan. That was back in '08 I believe. It is currently on display about 10 minutes from where I live here in West Palm Beach, FL at the Norton's Museum of Art alongwith the ESB vader stunt and various other displays.

Very great pics. Interesting close up on the decals.

It's funny to see that the blue stripes weren't perfect ^^.

And just like ROTJ helmets, silkscreened decals.

Great pic's.
Cause of the decals.
Were they printed on this "silkscreen" or painted and then glued on.

Personnaly, I always thought it was a coat of paint directly applied on black vynil, cause of this pics:

We can see the black layer trough the grey (paint) coat. And the edges of the grey area do not seem to have been cut then stuck on the black adhesive.

It looks like paint silkscreened directly onto black vinyl. You can see the weave pattern of the silkscreen impregnated into the grey paint.

Mhh... on this it looks like they cut out the grey silkscreen and glued the grey one on a black one that they got a two layer decal.

So nothing handpainted.

I see what you mean but silkscreening is a method of applying the paint, so the decal is made up of a layer of paint applied on top of the black vinyl, then the vinyl hand cut and applied to the helmet.

It sounds like you are thinking a seperate layer of grey paint was silkscreened onto something else and then when dried glued onto the vinyl. Is that what your saying?

Yes more like put a grey tape ( first cut this stripes out)on a black tape and put the "layertape" on the helmet.

Have looked after "silcscreen" and now know what it means.
Thought this grey part is also a kind of vinyl or a tape, so nothing painted.

I wouldn't have though so, but I could be wrong. The weave pattern is present in the grey paint and I see no other reason for that to be there if it wasn't from the silkscreen fabric.
