Hi everybody,

Just thought I add a quick thread on this wip.

I've been messing around with paint for longer than I wanted to but it did pay off eventualy.

Here's a quick comparison between gino's gloss v2, Joer CFO "dulux spraypak" :thumbsup & sds ABS.

the weather is a bit over cast this morning & the pictures are far from good but with the three lids together it help"s for comparison.

Image

the dulux paint is the one I'l be using from now on full stop!, it dos'nt chalk up easily like some do in my experience, there was'nt one run in sight despite my inept painting skill's. It's self leveling & as you use it you can actually see the top film leveling out.

Image

the colour is in between the v2 hue's & sds, it has a very slight cream tone but real glossy deep white.

in a nut shell I like it, it's a global brand, user friendly & cheap. just thought I'd share

Looking really good. Any chance of posting larger pictures, so we can really see how it paints? If the pictures are really large, you could always just post them as clickable thumbnails.

I hate painting but don't mind so much now I found the spraypak.

Did you use any primer before applying the Dulux paint or did you just spray directly onto the plastic?

AH, LOL... it even says primer on the can. Curse my eyes for not paying attention.

WOAW... who are you planning to get decals from who are apparently recasting?

http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=13714

I don't recall the guy owning the original prop, the original molds from the prop or making his own independant sculpt.

but apparently thats cool nowadys? when you have the nod from the rigfht folks that is!, still a recast in my book.

BTW I'm looking for screen acurate decals from someone else for the ROTJ lid if anyone has any leads, that would be awesome.

Steve

I have a load of his decals here. Pm me your address and I will send you some, they are a little shiny even though they are a matt finish but they are pantone matched.

Great helmets and paint job.

Joe

how do I go about clickable thumbnails? never mind figured it out :lol

Here's two pic's as soon as it was sprayed then a few mins ltr. As it drys it gets more of an even gloss coat, when the lights better I'll take another pic but hope these help?

I have to add I don't like painting & it's one of my weakest points. :disg

That's photobucket re-sizing the pictures.

You should go into settings and set the file size for the free account to max. I'll see if I can figure out where in the settings you do that.

EDIT: go into the upload picture page and just click the link the arrow is pointing to in the picture. Will take you straight to the picture size settings.

Regarding the paint. WOW... now THAT's what I'm talking about. I'm definitely gonna use this on my RotJ!!! :thumbsup
