Looks very similar to the DJ/SL faceplate. Since I don't own one, I can't say for certain, but it does look very similar. I won't be bidding on it, so have at it gents:

Interesting auction thanks Pete. It could be good but this worries me:

Nice easy way to avoid having to bother to invent any history.

If you know your minute Vader details this could be a good find.

Nice find Pete.
I do not own an SL, but it looks like a recast to me too.

I like the look of it but it does look a little soft be cast directly from an original?

Innnnteresting...

Looks a little soft and clean for a SL/DJ to my eye. Excepting the tusk ends it reminds me of a TD casting (not saying it is just that it looks similar to me).

If I'm not mistaken, makerofthings is a recaster.

It does appear soft and yes, it does appear to be a "possible" recast of the SL/DJ. Without having a cast in hand to compare against, I can't say for certain. Perhaps Thomas will chime in here and confirm. And people wonder why authentic casts never get sold.

I know Thomas vets his buyers very carefully so I doubt he would have sold one to anyone with doubt. Not saying they wouldn't recast it but hey you never know. There is only 1 DJ so I doubt its that. Soooooooooo let the games begin....... :lol

Propsmith, I was also thinking of bidding on it just for curiosity sake, so are we going to have a bidding war? :toothy

Mark, in my experience, it's just the nature of the beast. The original TM owners were also carefully picked and we all know what happened there; one of the castings ended up on ebay and was bought by JB.

The photos are too small and blurry, but I agree with the shape.

At any rate, if people wait long enough, the eFX will likely get recast, and that would make any exclusivity of this mask obsolete.

Well, after comparing it to my SL I'd have to say nope. Many things are different, and it is waaaay too soft. I'll let Thomas point out some of the details as I'm not sure I can without giving info I agreed not to disclose.
