Ok i have had my 2010 TrooperMaster helmet since a little while before xmas 2009, but had yet to take any pics. I was inspired to do a few light modifications after StukaTrooper showcased his dirty ANH TrooperMaster this weekend, so here goes..

The helmet is the new style face plate, ears, back and cap.. in fact i think the whole helmet has been re-worked to some degree, all for the better.

Built and assembled by TrooperMaster himself, decals by TK 4510, mic tips by Keith, detailing by fbj and artificial weathering and aging by StukaTrooper :)

Great helmet. :thumbsup
Also ordered a ESB helmet from Paul in this shape.
Only without the weathering.

After looking this pics in detail, may ia ask you how the weathering was done?
Was it done after the painting or during?
Seperate with a brush, or was the paint real removed buy using tools?
I ask , 'cause i want to do the same with my ESB helmet.

All the weathering and paint chipping effect has been added after the helmet was finished.

The hdpe effect is painted on using acrylic paints using a small brush. Green, brown and yellow pastels have been used to add dirt and grime that would have built up over time with fingers. And then the lid was given a black wash again using acrylic paint. This was painted on with a large brush for washes and wiped off as needed with a paper towel.

I used a coctail stick to rough up some of the hdpe edges so they were not all rounded and smooth.

I think the hardest part is to make the effect look random and natural..

All of the effects are non permanant and can either be rubbed or washed off :)

And you've done a really excellent job, mate... very original and authentic looking. I think the mistake people usually make when adding age and wear effects on a helmet or armour, is to make it too symmetrical and make it too definite. The best examples of bad weathering effects can usually be found on Sandtrooper armour which has been given an OTT weathering effect by an over-zealous owner :protest

But this is an exercise in sublety and class. Well done mate... On a completely seperate note, I believe that Christies will soon be accepting lots for their Film & Entertainment Auction later this year.... :toothy

Cheers,
John
