Hi
here is my other little project on the go, a ROTJ DV REVEAL Helmet.
I have been collecting parts for this project for about 5 years or so and am just missing a few pieces now.
Some of you may know me from the RPF selling bits and pieces for the reveal.
The basis is a Portumac helmet that I swapped for a Glenross screw 5 years ago. It is my first DV helmet apart from the sad looking one I have for sale which was a little too ambitious for me. I am looking for an accurate ROTJ helmet, Any suggestions? I have an Elstree coming and thought I might take a cast from it to use as a basis? Is that accepted if it's for my own use?
I have a set of metal parts that I got from the VaderDoctor, Original copper vents from a Photomultiplier, a few original Glenross screws and a mass of other bits I have begged borrowed bought and stolen!
anyway here are some photos of what I have found so far.

THE START......

Then I cut the Jaw off.....

I then sanded off the keys and stuff on the crown as I have some newer metal ones

Image

Then I cut out the vent squares...

Image

then see what the vents look like.

Some parts I have amassed over the years....

Image

My own sculpted part in clay. I will cast the black part out of a rubbery poly and Russrep is doing the brass part

Image
Image

Brace screws I had commissioned by Russrep

Image

Brace mesh

Image

Glenross Expansion screws

Image

Copper Vents

Mouth/jaw parts

Crown keys and bits

Forehead Parts

That will do for now. I'll upload some more parts when I have the time........

What do you think so far?

Wow... off to a good start!

Hey, can you rephotograph the dome and mask from 6 feet back? I wanted to see the size relationship between the dome and mask.

Hi Mac,
shall I take it from the front six feet away. Should I zoom in or not?
I'm sure I took those from six feet but I can't remember now so I will retake it. :thumbsup

Yep there certainly are alot of pieces hence the amount of time to collect them all! I have upgraded most of the parts as I go along and find them, That's half the problem with the amount of time this project has taken. I always striving for better pieces! :thumbsup
I'm srill wondering what to do about the helmet, I might wait until the Reveal base in the works from another RPFer comes to light and is ready for purchase. It's coming from the old Ketzler molds....

I know patience isn't a Sith virtue but I would definitely wait for a better casting. I had a Portumac Helmet I got off eBay once and, nice though it is for the casual collector, those parts you have collected are better than the porty.

I had the same thought. Those parts are amazing, and could make the best Vader reveal ever.

The dome itself almost looks like Portumac's Rots dome. I still have the Porty Rots and the dome has the same look.

Very nice Mark. :thumbsup That's a great assortment of parts you've been able to gather. That's over half the battle. Looking forward to the build.

Patience certainly is a virtue......
I am going to wait for the new acquisition of the old Ketzler reveal when it gets done. You are all right it's taken alot of work to get to where I have got so far and I have never been that pleased with the porty. It was one of the first helmets I got and I swapped it 5 or so years ago with Portumac for a small expansion screw. At the time I was chuffed to bits but I have learnt so much since then that I just want something far more accurate now.
Cheers for all the comments and keep them coming and if anyone sees something I haven't managed to get yet and have it or something better than I already have please let me know.
:cheers :salut
