My first thread

Been working on finishing these two with not much time on my hands.
Image

Nothing special about them (and not as good as what Keith does) but I've tried experimenting different paint technics on them.

The first one is almost finished, it's an ABS kit (AP) with styrene ear caps, leftovers from another helmet kit(the one I used to make my ESB hero).
Image

First thing I did was to apply the decals (from Jeesycreesy) on the raw ABS and applied liquid mask on them.
Image

I completely hand painted the helmet using gloss white dulux paint (acrylic) directly on the raw ABS
(I didn't use any primer). ( humbrol enamels for the details)

I applied several very thin coats of white paint with a very good brush.

Using my fingernail I scratched the paint in a few spots, to get a minor chipped/ weathered effect and painted the kahki HDPE color.

Still need to paint the hovi mic tips and the brow is just a stand in.

The other one is a CO with ABS earcaps leftover from my AP kit.
Not the best helmet(fiberglass) but one of the first that was made available.

This one is spray painted, I primered the entire helmet with a kahki color, applied maskol, and then spray painted the whole thing using two cans of paint. Still needs a lot of work.(decals from trooperdecals)

More to come.

And here is a group shot of almost all my helmets (also have a GF not pictured).

Cheers.

Would it be possible to get helmet maker names attached to all these helmets? That would just be so cool! :thumbsup

Hi SWC,

Sorry about the red x , I do not have these pics anymore.

Since that thread I completely took apart the CO and turned it into an Ewok tambourine :lol

I have been too busy with my own business to work on anything but I'll be taking some new pics of the collection very soon, just waiting for my new Gino hero helmet to arrive.

It would be nice to see everyone's trooper collection, too many Vader threads these days, stormtroopers need to strike back :protest :toothy

Well, I only got my AP helmet and it's still unfinished! Thinking of redoing it in ESB style: anything other than the frown that is different? :lol

I'll post some pics in a few days. I just bought Joe's (The Dark Side on the RPF) TE Sandtrooper helmet and I ordered an SFS TE which should arrive in a few weeks.

Yep, and yet another MR Clone (Utapau) I just couldn't resist....and then there's still the RotS Vader......I know, I'm a freak... :pale

No, although there are some who will tell you the ESB has some blue-ish color in the decals, but I think that's just a trick of light in certain pics.

Hey so you got Joe's helmet, TE2 nice score, I've dealt with Joe in the past he 's a top bloke.

NHM
Is your AP painted or is it raw abs?

Here's what I would do: paint it using gloss white dulux paint, for the frown, earcaps detailings and vocoder I use satin black humbrol enamels, too often we see people using gloss black enamels but I think satin black works much better, order some new brow and neck trim and for the decals I use trooperdecals.com ; Jeezycreesy (spell) use to make good decals but I don't think he is making them anymore (at least he doesn't reply to my pms anymore :lol )

Also as mentioned most ESB helmets had their eyes trimmed more.
