I've had the TD a lot longer than the SL, and still like the photos of it with the GH master helmet and armor that I sold a while back. I have quite a few photos of it with the SL helmet on but without armor...and I don't have any painted versions of the TD that I could combine with the SL helmet... :sad5

I know if I stripped this puppy and showed it there would be gasps just based on what it would look like without paint

Thanks for all that history! How could someone tell if it was a 3rd casting vs a 2nd or 1st? Just loss of detail? Or were there several molds?

Do you mean the screen helmets or? There was only one mold that made the three (or I've heard possibly four) production ANH helmets. I've never seen anything other than the screen one....that is to say I've not seen photos of a 2nd or 3rd pull, unfortunately.

Just curious here, is the paint job on the cheeks correct for ANH? I thought the undersides were supposed to be opposite the main face of the cheeks. Does that make any sense?

Inasmuch as I can tell from the small photos there, it's accurate. The whiskers in the following screen shot are both metallic gray. Due to shadow and angle of the lighting source, the whiskers will appear darker than the surfaces of the cheeks.

Hmm, I always thought the whiskers were black on Vader's left cheek and silver on the right. Even the picture you posted did not convince me, so I was going through my reference pics looking for photos to debate you on that one Mac (I should know better). Then I found this...

Amazing how little I still know about this hobby. Well, off to repaint my helmet :banger

Yeah, that's what I thought as well, bubba.

How's yours painted Vader71? It looks like metallic on his left and black on his right, but I honestly can't tell about his right whisker.
