I can't believe that's a Rubies Supreme... that's too cool! :cheers

Mind if I merge it with your WIP thread?

Hi NHM, sure you can merge it... It's only fitting. Also just wondering if you could add the last bottom frontal shot with the flash to the Vader list ..... Many thanx

Merged.

Don't think we've added many reworks of helmets before... though we do have a few DP DLX copies on the list. Got a name for it, so people will know it's yours project when hearing the name?

Im more than impressed, im bold over, but confused.
First of is the dome the original dome and also is it a fiberglass copy as the interior looks like fiberglass.?
How did you get the ridge to look as ggod as that?

Did you do your own paintwork and if you did, could you give some more info on that.

cheers

I don't follow on the "stucco" (in quotes). Is it fiberglass lined in the interior or a house stucco thing? I was told that the heat from an FG application could potentially melt the Rubie's plastic.

I see. I had some of the same conclusions. So if I understood you correctly, you're saying you only modified the sides of the mid strip and flattened the surface instead of grinding the whole thing off and sculpting a new mid strip? My concerns was that I'd cut the helmet in two -- or make it dangerously thin. If the material underside failed to weld properly, the helmet could break in half if dropped or stressed.

Sorry for not clarifying it too well. I should of said leveling WITH FILLER on both sides of the stock strip from front to back feather-edging off the dome sides to blend in. I thought about reinforcing underneath and grinding on top too but messing with the structural aspect is just trouble and just way too much work. So basically the whole helmet was never cut into, its just one big sculpt. Now the mask is a whole diffrent story.....

Ohhhhhh. So you didn't actually remove any material from the mid strip.. you just accented its edges and kept it at its original width? I just re-examined the photos, and just noticed the photography angle played a part in making the strip look narrow.

was it from a can or was from a compressor and gun?
