Ian. That looks a nice bucket. Abs as well.
The right ear looks a bit deformed at the bottom though. i would ask the seller if he would post another closer pic of the ear.

Normally abs is vac formed with a thickness of .80 for the traditional helmets so this is a little thinner.

Good luck and keep us posted.

cheers

There are some of e-chu-ta's auctions that show photos of what turned out to be a recast of AP's helmet. He's since changed many of his photos to where the kit still has all the tells of the AP (I think he's formerly newimage58 because e-chu-ta has used the same photo of his recast AP as the one that got him exposed as a recaster).

Best yet, contact AP directly.

This is not to say all of e-chu-ta's auctions are based on having recast an AP, but it just little sense to offer recast AP kits and then to use a different helmet as a basis for the fully painted up ones.

PM me if you need his contact info.

I am not sure of the dome i wouldn't be surprised if the Hero dome he offers is an AP but the face plate is not an ap recast the detail surpasses and AP face plate and ear caps. From what i can tell.

A guy on the FISD got burned... I cant find the thread, but what is in the pic is not what he got.
It was a horrid recast.
My advice, Contact AP direct.

very strange. looks like AP ears and dome with an sds stunt faceplate to me. the teardrop shape with the rounded points on the decals are exactly like sds faceplates, as are the eyes. those aren't AP eyes.
interesting in the guy's history it shows an abs helmet that he painted white, while this one is raw unpainted abs.

To echo what the others have said, go with an AP or a second hand TE.

He calls it a 'VT' helmet and its a recast from a TE.There's a couple of
threds over on the FISD.Most guys who've had one have said its not to bad
but expensive for what it is.The guy who got stung struck a deal to swap a
vader helmet and the guy must have passed him off with a 'second'
'coz it was in a pretty bad shape. The guy made it into a Sandy project
and it turned out pretty good.
My advice?, there's better out there for the money

One can alter their location and origin in their profiles. Perhaps they're different people but it doesn't change the fact that e-chu-ta used the same image of an AP kit recast as newimage58.

Depending on your budget your best off sticking to a mainstream name you can trust. AP TM TE TE2 or GF something like that. You may pay a little more (and i do only mean a little as these recasts on the bay can go for as much as a kit from the main sellers) but you will be more satisfied and know what your getting.
