Fx would be fine on your frame and i should think more accurate sized armour would be too. I think there is a long wait for RT as Rob is having problems with his vac machine atm.

It really depends on what you want from your armour...

Thanks Firebladejedi!

Well, I think I can get helmet-less FX armor for around $330. I have no idea what a helmet-less RT set would cost me. Does anyone know?

I've heard that the RT armor is more accurate, but not as robust as the FX. Is that so?

Thanks again,
Huzz

Robust? Yes the RT-Mod is a great set of armor, thick and tough.

Right now he is out of commission. He will be operational in about a month from what I have read.

Thread necromancing I know...but...

Huzz - you should pretty much pick whatever armor suits your fancy aesthetic and budget wise. I'm 6'0"/180lbs and TE(2) fits me just fine. I've seen TE armor fit nicely on someone taller and larger than you.

The FX chest will look large and you'll still have a single butt/back plate to contend with, as well as needing to upgrade the belt and buttons. The only real reason to get FX is cost, as it's the lowest cost - for non-recast - out there.

Of what's the "common" available suits, I'd say AP/TE(2) would suit you best, IMHO, though you may eventually decide to get RT legs.

My $.02...

I'm curious... do RT legs have some kind of design advantage or something?

The sculpt is a little different and I found they fit my legs better (I'm 6'0") than the TE2, though the overall length between RT/FX/TE2 is almost the same. The RT is definitely larger in diameter.

I had to shim one of the TE2 shins to get it to close
My FX shins almost close completely
The RT shins easily close 100%

Unfortunately while the diameters are a little more roomy, there's not much to be done about the length. I understand there's a new set of shins in the works that will be 1 to 1-1/2" longer than base, but until I have a set in my hands I'm considering it vaporware.

There is more variation between thighs in my experience. I haven't a set of RT's but I have compared the old FX, the new FX, and the TE2. The new FX are huge in diameter but are shorter otherwise (to allow more freedom of movement), thus exposing more black.

Here is a great thread comparing the current FX & RT parts where you can see RT is really the largest:

And here is a pix of me in 2001 FX vs. TE2 (e.g. original FX thighs)
