Thanks for sharing those pics Joe! Very nice :)

CGClone - Anychance you could send HI-RES versions of those pics to me? They are AWESOME shots man!

I own a TE ROJ. Its packed away in storage atm. Its quite an impressive helmet. One thing I did notice, was that it seems wider/fatter compared to the background versions. That being said, I'd love to see it next to a background ROJ for a comparison. Maybe one day eh?

Thanks

I noticed the same thing about the glue and the rivets. How many of the ROTJs are rumored to have survived and are archived? I have heard various theories on only a handful to more...

Thanks for sharing dark side, that is awesome stuff right there.

Thanks for the pics guys, that interior is of the TE ROTJ helmet. I don't think the paint is rubberised, that's just the effect of 30 years wear and tear.

Yeah I sure do miss my TE ROTJ armor.

I really need to scan in the old photos I have of it. I didnt have a digital camera back then so the pics I have are in an album packed away somewhere.

I would love to see pics or hear how some of the helmets were riveted together. I had thought that all were glued as well. Very interesting.

It would be interesting to compare your helmet Joe next to Propmaster's in a real life side by side and not just photos. It appears that Propmaster's has that "beat in the side of the head" shape to it.

Awesome pics guys!

Guys,

Now my understanding was that there was ONE set of moulds made for the RotJ helmets, itself created from an original ANH helmet. The "recasting" process didnt go to well (buck not supported enough), which is why one side caves in a little.

I also understand that all the helmets were fabricated at the same time from this mould (at Elstree?), and were effectively the same with regard to composition - i.e. same plastic etc.. However its posssible the Location helmets could have been assembled in the States and were all riveted together.

The differences between the Hero/Studio/Location/Background etc. etc. is therefore mainly cosmetic. The Location helmets were finished to a higher standard, painted better, hard-hat lining, etc. whereas the Studio helmets didnt need the same level of "movability" hence didnt need the hard-hat liners.

Does this sound correct?

Cheers

Jez

One more thing.

Tthe helmet in the first post described as a Hero...
Image

is actually this helmet....
Image

A lid worn by one of the key stunt guys (and has significant damage underneath relfecting this). Hence I'd certainly consider it a "Stunt"

Cheers

Jez

Nice helmet - although those decals look a very strange blue colour - is that the colour balance in the photos?

Cheers
