Out of this world write up! So much information and details. This is so cool to see especially in the Vader community where it is generally alot of "I know this but cant show you or tell you why" attitude.

Stripping the original paint took some serious guts to do, but wow was it ever worth it to find what was hidden beneath.

Again fantastic work guys. This is a real gem and the best part is that it is in the community and is being shared with no veil what so ever.

:eek Can't believe I missed this thread! :pale

Tom, that's one awesome helmet! Without a doubt the best ESB I've ever seen. Many thanks for sharing the pics and background info. :thumbsup

JRX, you did a tremendous job bringing it back to its former glory. :thumbsup

Hi Tom,

Very nice post. Great pictures and backstory. Great work by JRX and an all round beautiful helmet.

Another scoop that shows why the Prop Den is the premiere Vader forum.

Many thanks for sharing.

Superb :)

Cheers Chris

I feel very honored by that comment. I'm really happy this place is thriving and people feel comfortable sharing their stuff here.

Really is a beautiful helmet! :thumbsup

No comments from Gino! Do I sense a touch of the green eyed monster :lol :lol :lol It must be killing him seeing two great new vaders with this kind of lineage.

The Dark Side, please let's not try to start any fights, there is no need for that here.

I am glad you are happy with my view of the forum :)

It is true though at the moment no other Vader forum has the level of new and exciting offerings. Helmets get briefly discussed on the other forums with the odd picture. So far in the last year we have had the TM, TD, DJ and VP discussed is pretty good depth with great pics.

With the possibly of the SL coming up for discussion no other Vader forum has had such quality put forward.

We might have the odd bit of bickering but for the most it is also one of the most civil forums.

Long may it last.

Cheers Chris

On behalf of the entire staff, thanks for the kind words Chris. :thumbsup

As for the bickering; I have no idea what you're talking about.... :lol

Okay, back now to our regular programming!

That is just frigin sick how nice this helmet is, and what a great job JRX did

I too want to chime in regarding the restoration work. In the antique world, a restorer tries to bring out the intent of the original artist rather than impose his own artistry or override what's already there. This requires careful and meticulous study. The flow of lines and the way the light plays off of it in the final shots of the mask show how understated JRX's involvement was.

Such praise could not be more well-deserved! Doug, I totally agree with you here.

Not to take away from Tom's awesome thread, but I felt this was a pretty good time to show you guys something.

A lot has been said about the TM being ESB. Yes it's true, the TM came as an ESB faceplate and dome, but at the core of the faceplate and the dome is ANH. A few pics have already been shown of the TM as an ANH style helmet in both Jesper's and Mike's (vadermonkey) awesome threads. I'm currently in the WIP stage and didn't feel I had enough yet to start my own thread, so I'll just piggyback onto Tom's thread.

This is the TM faceplate ANH style.

And this is my WIP ANH display with my TM ANH faceplate and JRX-ANH dome. I'm having a few things custom made and most will be replaced like the cape, change out the belt boxes etc. This is just a quick mockup and not indicative of the final display, only a teaser.
