Don't know if this is common knowledge or posted elsewhere, but here's the name of the sculptor : Seiji Takahashi

My hat is off to him for getting the helmet likeness so close... :cheers

Dang!!!! How did one toy sculptor manage to nail the perfect ANH look where many Vader vendors and prop collectors have been struggling to do so for so long?

What a shame this figure was never made. I have a few of the Marmit figures and they are some of the best I have seen. It will be interesting to see if Sideshow can pull off a Vader figure this good.

The Marmit ANH Vader is my all time favorite Vader figure. I had a hard time believing they didn't start with Vader in that line rather than pushing him to the end. Most likely an LFL decision.

That is the closest vader likeness ever made in that or any other scale short of 1:1.

The eventual sideshow 1/4 scale Vader ended up being an abomination compared to this baby.

Dave :)

Jason Eaton (moffeaton on the RPF) handled the Marmit prototype whilst in Japan. There is a pic on his blog. I am sure he also posted more at the RPF but can't find them.

I wrote Sideshow Toys and offered to help them get in contact with the most knowledgeable people to make the best possible Vader ever. A woman wrote back thanking me for the offer and that she would pass on the mail to the proper department. Haven't heard anything since.

Sideshow is pretty much our last hope... but how they fucked up on their fourth scale just shows what kind of access they have to the accurate stuff or accurate reference and that LFL isn't helping matters by making suggestions for alterations for the worse.

However, having learned a tiny bit about how things work from prototype to final design to final product... the sculptor can start out with the best possible sculpt, but it'll risk getting changed the closer it gets to final design. Shame really... and I still haven't figured out WHY.

great Marmit pics on this page...
http://www.loresdelsith.net/ph/merch/c_26090301.htm

I'm afraid of the answer, but I'll ask anyway:
how difficult is it to come by the Marmits these days..specifically the Stormtroopers??

Crow,

i've seen many Marmits on ebay the last months, also some Stormis. The price level is much lower than the last two years, so have a look on ebay the next time and i'm pretty sure you will get a nice one
