Inspired by the Vader Maker topic... how about we gather all the Trooper helmets in a single topic with preview pictures...

This list is not for what is available for sale, so please don't ask for contact info or info regarding the helmets and makers - such questions will be ignored and deleted.

Disclaimer: pictures are found or shared online - either on websites, RPF, or shared through mail - will take them down if asked.

Interesting bit of info. Thanks for sharing. I have removed the "recast" comment in the first post! :thumbsup

Well... when those weeks are up and no proof has been shown... then I'll reattach the label... but I see no reason to brand someone a recaster based on only the testimony of one side... let's see what he says first before branding him! :thumbsup

Ahhh that old recasting minefield its a real tough one
If Meatsock was selling the lids on the basis of them being cast from an original then he should be able to back up those claims or not sell them as something they are not.
then again if they are from an original helmet surely they are the property of LFL
it seems some recasts are tolerated when others are not like DP delux tie helmets for example or fett helmets supposedly cast from the real props
or even resin blaster parts from sterlings no permission from the rightful owners is sought for these yet nobody bats an eye

i'm not advocating recasting i just find the subject to be full of grey areas

Yes... cast from screen used is okay, in my mind - until licenced versions of equal quality or better than the screen used prop arrives on the open market. But since LFL isn't in the habit of doing that - with helmets especially, with their wrongful view that idealized and symmetrical is better - then I think casts of screen used items will keep on going.

Casts of fan-made casts or items... is pretty much an absolute no no in my book. Also slightly casts of currently licenced and available products... was hoping that my resolve also extended towards licenced and currently unavailable products... but money - having very little of them and the fact that those casts are often much cheaper than cast from screen used - has a strong pull on me... I'm sorry to say... as I really want all those nice, shiny, battered helmets.

I'm weak... :eek

Yep i just find it bizzare when you get makers who havent done their own sculpt and just taken a cast from a screen used prop or licenced prop kick up a stink when somebody takes a copy of that prop that they have essentially recast themselves if that makes sense.
of course i think these recasters should be outed because with every generation of copy detail is lost and quality is poorer,
of course if a maker has gone to the time and trouble of building their own sculpt from scratch they every right to be angry im not so sure if makers who have taken a cast from a screen used prop or licenced product have quite as strong a case though

I did say it was a very tough subject :lol

Indeed it is and always debateable. I actually enjoy talking about it... but seriously... taking a cast of a screen used item is a risky business, as you risk ruining the original in the process... and simply to have someone come afterwards and copy what you did with your cast is just low, imo, as there is no risk in recasting a "re"cast, imo.

Though, as interesting as the recasting topic is, I will have to ask that anymore discussion on this should be made in the main user section or the OT section, as this is the List That Maker section and not about ethics discussions.

No, it was not meant like that... please don't think that. I value your opinions... and don't want to oppress or squash discussion... just want to keep a somewhat tidy forum - unlike my room - so topics are easier to find, down the road! :thumbsup
