Well, I've added another little helmet to the collection. I had been searching for this one for a looooong time and it finally appeared. Very nice details and reminds me of the VP vader faceplate. I don't know when I'll get to start on this one, but I thought you guys might like to see a few pics.

That's a nice score... but is it just me or does it look a little pale?

No, you are correct. I didn't have good lighting so I played with the saturation. I'll get better pics in a few days.

The detail I'm seeing is sharp and nice. Very clean.

Now what's the story on the origins of the ROTJ? Does it come from the same source as GhostHost's ANH offering? The two look very different. This doesn't have that surprised look and warped left mouth wall as the ANH does, and the neck actually looks better.

What's the distance between the helmet and the camera?

Yes, the GH ROTJ is actually the Jeff ROTJ. Hopefully you all know the story by now.

I have a Jeff ROTJ that I'm in the process of painting up for sale. Thinning out the collection.

I'm not sure of its' origins, if it's a Jeff casting or not. The faceplate has similarities with a 20th C, but the overall look of the faceplate is ROTJ based on the eyes, nose and mouth areas. I'm not too informed with the GH ROTJ, but I'm sure someone will chime in with the info. I know these are very rare and don't come up for sale often. It does sport some very nice and sharp details.

Photos taken from about 6 feet back.

edit: OK I knew someone would know the origins.

There were only 2 Jeff ROTJ helmets sold. One to GH, and one to me.
GH recast the one he got from Jeff and that's where all the GH ROTJ's came from. That's what yours is unless he sold you his original he got from Jeff which from your photos doesn't look to be the case.
The ANH and ROTJ GH received from Jeff were cleaned up and altered in places before being offered to people.

I purchased this one from someone who purchased one of the originals GH had offered. I don't know what GHs' master looks like though, so I wouldn't be familiar with what changes/alterations he made on the castings.

Once I finish painting mine, I'll post some pics here and you can compare.

Cool. Looking forward to the pics. I did notice that the pics of your ROTJ that are floating around did look different than the ones I had previously seen of the GH ROTJ. The more vader pics, the better. Thanks!

So only 2 Jeff ROTJ helmets were sold, and only 2 Jeff ANH helmets were sold?

Anything else?

Thanks for clarifying.

Correct.
The only other Jeff ANH helmets that were sold were the latch version which comes from a totally different mold than the ones myself and GH got.

GINO,

So do these latch versions resemble the ones you and GH got in terms of the surprised look in the eyes and the left (as you look at it) mouth wall bending into the mouth vent area?

Jeff has the original molds to both versions of these helmets. He only offered latch versions (which indirectly is how fyberdyne got theirs).
Both the latch and non-latch share the same inaccuracies like the thumbnail, right side cheek, mouth details, etc... however it looks like the latch version was cleaned up and altered a bit more.
