I've seen them for auction before. They are RT-Mod recasts.

Is an RT-Mod a pure fan sculpt?

I found this page; apparently it's his.

http://www.rt-mod.com/myhelmets%20thumb%20page.html

Can you tell if it's a Mark I, II, III or IV?

From what I've heard the RT-Mod was a recast of a TE.

The one in the pictures looks like a MKIII

It's thought the faceplate on the MKIV may be a TE, but the rest of the helmet and the armor are complete fansculpt.

If that's the case then they've done a terrible job IMO.

The first RT was cast off a don post deluxe, he then "updated" it by casting the face of a GF.

More recently I think he "updated" it again, not sure from where but probably a derivative of a TE

Cheers

Jez

Jez,

Was the DP DLX Stormtrooper 1:1 scale with the originals, or smaller? And if smaller, then if the face was 1:1 scale, then that might explain the "off" look I think I'm seeing. Or maybe I'm off myself!

The Don Post deluxe was a really odd project for the company. For some unknown reason they decided to produce a symmetrised and therefore heavily modified helmet- as opposed to the other delux helmets which were fairly accurate.

My understanding is they took HALF a ROTJ trooper helmet and tried to mirror it, filling the gaps in between etc. So they ended up with something that was neither one thing or another.

I have one and love it for what it is. It captures the overall look of a stormtrooper but looks little like the helmets we see in the movies. THey also use the deluxe mould for the 1:1 lifesize, and the calssic action

Cheers

Jez

I'm with Jez in reguards to having one. I 've got the classic action...while its not accurate I also enjoy it for what it is...a little piece of history.

that is one odd-looking helmet imho...don't know quite how to describe it. Almost like its father was a Don Post and its mother was a battle spec. And the mother smoked and drank a lot during the pregnancy...

:lol

I agree, though on appreciating it for what it is...Until recently I owned a DP trooper helmet from the 70's and I loved looking at it on the shelf (until it turned to powder from age) just because of the history.
