Hi folks,

dunno if I ever mentioned this before, but another part of my life as a film fan is dedicated to collecting screen-used Highlander swords. I got into this even deeper than into the dark Lord's black pants - sorry, I'm a bit drunk tonight :lol

Comments and responses appreciated.

Tom

Nah, I got O.D.'d on Highlander a long time ago. The producers and writers do too many spinoffs (the series is a spinoff of Highlander's first movie, and then Highlander: Endgame is a spinoff of the series, bypassing Highlander 2 and Highlander 3 -- which itself bypasses Highlander 2. And now a new animated movie by the guys who animated Ninja Scroll shows promise, but it brings a new "Colin MacLeod" so I guess this is a re-imangin-eering of Highlander that bypasses everything that has been done before.

It's getting old.

But if you have a good prop (not the mass produced stuff) it would be nice to see them.

Ol' Mac has considered making a prop replica though... but first the Vader stuff!

I try to see Highlander the same way as Matrix - only the first movie
exists for me ... all the others I have "erased" from my memory - :lol :lol :lol

yeah, the first movie is by far the best. Well, I do have some original screen-used swords such as a Clan MacLeod broadsword with almuminum blade (the one Connor uses during his sword lessons with Ramirez), a Highlander 2 Connor/Ramirez hero katana, a Highlander 4 hero Connor katana, Highlander 5 stunt Duncan katana and stunt Guardian's sword (haven't ven seen that movie yet) and a production made Kurgan sword with a prototype blade.

I had the hero Toledo Salamanca once, but I traded it...I better should have kept it :angry4

I'd love to complete my screen-used Highlander katana collection with a Connor katana from Highlander 1 and Highlander 3. In 2003 I had to pass on a screen-used H1 katana at Christie's. I have a nice reproduction which is called "The Mentor's Katana" - that was a collaboration with a friend who re-sculpted the H1 dragonhead and the tsuba based on the images and measurements that I took from originals.

I think about 1 to 2 years ago... you were the one restoring the hero MacCleod broad-sword from deterioration, right?

yep, that's right...you have a good memory.

So if anyone here ever stumbles across a screen-used Highlander 1 and/or Highlander 3 Connor katana.....

Although I think the movie sucked big time, I really like this sword from
ERAGON:

I also really dig the look of Arwens Sword Hadhafang from LOTR:

And of course the big bad M.F. - Squalls Gunblade from Final Fantasy VIII:

Sorry for the slight "OT" but hey ... these are swords, too - :lol :lol :lol

I have always been a Highlander fan. Although I have to agree about sticking to the first movie... maybe the third one as well. (I loved Kane's Katana)
I have one of the mass produced Marto Connor Katana but thats about as close as i come to having anything used on-screen (and since the version they have isn't really actually ever seen.........)

Wow! I'd love to see some pics. Personally I'd love a Mentor's Katana. But a Marto would do lol

Hope H1 comes out as a decent Blueray release soon.

Regards
TAZ
