Nobody here will get a 3D scan of this helmet nor to view and measure it in person. So we just have these few pics of it and i don't need to see more that this is the mask or at least one of the two Lindsay has mentioned.
I certainly wouldn't let anyone make and take a 3D scan of this mask if I owned it either. But I *might* let someone use 3D scanner at my site to use it and a computer I supply to perform specific analyses agreed to ahead of time, under strict security and confidentiality agreement. The purpose of which could benefit the owner to further verify the claim of its provenance. The results of that analysis might be allowed to be made public, but certainly not the 3D scan data.
Since I can't use a 3D model of this mask to compare against a 2D image of the original ANH mask, I'll try the converse. And that is to compare a 2D image of this mask to a 3D model of the original ANH mask. Well, a very crude and distorted 3D model of a portion of the original ANH mask.
A good set of views of the right cheek from ANH are during Vader's visit with the Princess as he turns slowly to the right. Here is one screen capture from that scene:
I submitted 15 consecutive images from that scene to Autodesk 123D Catch. It generated the following "thing":
http://www.123dapp.com/catch/C-Scar/5058076. The depth of the features is greatly exaggerated, but I think it does show fairly well the locations of the peaks and valleys across the area of the cheek.
Lambotour, if I may, I'll reuse one of your feature match images of the C-Scar and overlay a viewpoint of the C-Scar from this 3D Model to see how they line up:
Which for the C-Scar looks like a pretty good match to my eye!
