Cool pics, and a neat story! I remember about that same time Vader made an appearance at a local shopping mall and, despite the urging of my parents, my little brother and I opted not to go.

My thinking was that if it wasn't going to be Dave Prowse but some schmo in a costume why bother? Never occurred to me that it might by some chance be THE costume--I mean, why would they risk sending the actual costume out?--that at least was my 11 year old logic.

A friend of ours went and said that the mall was a mad-house with loads of people pushing and shoving and, after about 25 seconds in the presence of the Dark Lord of the Sith, he came back with a crappy photocopied picture pre-signed with a worn-out sharpie.

Looking back, I kind of wish we had gone despite the "fun" it would have been.

I remember back many years ago, probably about the same time.
The local bank in down town Avalon ,Sydney Austarlia had a special
guest - Darth Vader. He signed a autograph as Darth Vader on a b/w photo from the movie. Have since lost it but these pictures bring back memories.

So, is this where people get the idea of the upside-down buckle from?!? Great pics and thanks for sharing!

Uh... I reverse my buckle when I'm putting it on. When I look down at it, it looks like it's facing the right direction!
