Vadermania is the owner of this authentic ESB Casting. He took these great shots after he got the helmet.

I think this vader has been facing off a few jedi in his time with the amount of damage visible.

May i ask for what TM stands for?
What is the origin of this helmet?
Looks like a cast from this ESB stunt helmet.

Read often, wow a TM , or great to get so a rear high quality helmet, but never read where or from whom this lid comes.

TM stands for the initials of the owner of the TM helmet. His first name is Thomas.

No, it is not a cast from that ESB helmet at PH, just a coincidence that they both have broken tusk tube ends.

Apparently the helmet came from someone who worked on the ESB production or who got it from someone who worked on the production. I'm sure TM could fill in some of the blanks.

So we speak over a 1 Gen. cast of a real screen used helmet.
Not a copy from a copy.
Cool. :drool
What's the price range for this?

Thanks for your info. :thumbsup

Lots of personal trust among fellow prop collectors. And being in that right place at the right time, with a fist full of green.

Well, a production helmet apparently, but not screen-used as far as we know...but still a definitive and outstanding ESB helmet.

Did anyone notice the ANH bottom vent markings on this?

You can see a picture of the stripped face plate over in the authentic casts section.

Here's the direct link to the thread showing various high end helmets: Gallery of Authentic castings...

Hmmm I see the VP has the same vent but also markings for the ESB, so these helmets have got to be fairly close production wise? They've both got ESB domes, and both got the ANH vent only real difference is that the VP was closer to having its bottom vent turned into ESB.

They share a similar lineage, going back to the original ANH mask. But the VP master you refer to had the ESB vent outline marked for cutting but the owner was advised (thankfully in time) not to cut it out, or so I understand. The VP dome is ROTJ. Plus the VP is a smaller mask so generationally probably much later than the TM. The TM's origins would be from 1980 whereas the VP's origins are from around the mid-90s.

Sry for bringing this old thread up again.

Looking on the back of the TM dome with the center stripe in the middle, there's a small dent on the right side some centimeters away from the stripe. It can be seen very good when holding the dome in both hands, facing the back of it and then rotating it slowly.

I'm sry that I can't provide a good pic since this is difficult to shoot.

When watching ESB, watch closely at the dome when Vader is standing on the bridge of the Executer, his back towards the camera. There he turns his head slowly and you can see the same indent.

I'll try to get some pics to illustrate what I mean - maybe this isn't something which is that much of interest.

EDIT:

This marks the area I'm talking about but this indent can't be seen here. I don't want to steal pics so please lmk if I should put it down.

Image

And this is the scene where a dent is visible on vaders dome in just the same position as the dent on the TM. Maybe paranoid but I couldn't resist posting this.
