Lucas Film Ltd. registered a complaint with RedBubble.com regarding one of my photos of a Darth Vader helmet that I had recently built. The photo was pulled off their site to avoid legal action, while other people are able to take an image directly from one of the Star Wars films, run it through a photoshop filter, and throw it on a t-shirt for sale ... How is that fair?

It is possible they thought it was one of their own images. I would check with RedBubble's policy on copyright and if you are in the right then you could always contact LFL about it. In this case since money is being made off it, it goes beyond fair use.

Definitely take it as a compliment. LFL doesn't react unless stuff is too close to original or someone is being too aggressive in their marketing, which I don't see you as being. They have the right, so there's no point in fighting it.

A shame though, when other Star Wars related stuff is still available on the site - hate inconsistency.
