This is my ANH helmet, and has been in the works for nearly 2 years. The whole set up will follow the normal rig that I have been putting together. Fans, head gear, and a bolt together dome to face plate arrangement.

The faceplate is my 20th C casting with it's custom dome mount molded in. But the dome is of another source. It is a descendant of a Ghost Host dome. I took and reworked a casting made from one of GH's domes that was made by another popular prop maker. It was badly cracked, and actually had a chunk broken out of the widows peak from initial delivery. I was just going to repair the dome and that would have been the end of that. But I contacted GH, and he has graciously granted me permission to recast and produce copies of this casting for use in my projects. So what you see in the following photos is a casting of a reworked, and repaired GH dome on a 20th C faceplate.

This casting is right out of the molds. Just rough trimmed and mocked up for some photos. More to follow soon.

Stone,

6 feet shots please! :-)

This is interesting. I'd love to see side by side pics between your helmet and SPFX's!

For clarification and to avoid misunderstandings, recasting is when you re-mold something and makes casts without permission. If you got permission, you are simply replicating or making copies.

Really like how this is shaping up. Are you going to work on the neckline to make it more ANH accurate?

Thanks for that clarification. :cheers

I did make my molds with an extended neckline for ESB and ROTJ. However I did trim this one up not really knowing of the different length for ANH. :violent

Neck length looks good, just remember the inward curve on either side in the rear of the neck edge, corresponding to the shoulder profile of the armor.

What happened to Vader's left cheek? It dropped down significantly on this casting. Your 20th C left cheek is nearly horizontal.

Ya in the comp pics the cheek looks fine....ok. It would be better to place them at the same height but oh well, nice to see comps.

Is that a most recent SPFX? The neck is too V-shaped from the front view and from the left view there is too much inside curvature.

Easy to see how the SPFX and your own dome are both GH-sourced.

This SPFX was made about 2 1/2 - 3 years ago. And yes, I could make some better painting stands that are the same height. Maybe better also if the two were both painted.
