Can anyone explain the amazingly high sales prices of the majority of these items?

I had registered because I was interested in the 2007 Master Replicas Stormtrooper (est. $400-$600). It sold for a hammer price of $8,125 USD. :eek

Other examples:
Rubies Fiberglass Vader helmet: $4,375 USD
MR ROTS helmet: $5,250 USD

Easy explanation: some people have too much money and don't know what they are bidding on.

All of the items were licensed products I believe. The conspiracy theorist in me says the prices could have been inflated by certain buyers agents at such a well-advertised auction to generate buzz to reinforce pricing and sales of current and future Star Wars products; from high-end licensed collectibles to the lowest end items (e.g. the 7-figure Canadian ESB set that fetched $32,500). Look what today's TFA toys might be worth in the future! Just don't open them. Or better yet, buy one set to play with and one set to keep in mint condition and wait to sell it at a Christie's auction in the year 2050.

As I said on other boards regarding this crazy auction, I wish I was surrounded by such rich dumb people.

Some screenshots for posterity LOL:
