Hi guys

Sorry I did not add any updates since the first time, this is the very first helmet I am painting by myself from scrath. It is going very slow but in the next few days I will get all the paints for painting the details(trapezoids, vocorder, etc...). Also I have been on vacations... :toothy , ah! I almost forgot it I had to remove the base white paint(completly) :banger and start over again...(what a nightmare!)
Anyway, this picture was taken today, it is not a big update for you guys but considering the circumstances (remove the paint...) it is ok

Cheers

PD: NHM Do you need me to post pictures from the left ears?

It has been a long time but finally I finished my HDPE helmet :toothy . I have been really busy at work so I did not have much time to work on it as much as I wanted..., first thing I would like to thanks to troopermaster and GundamZeppelin for sharing their knowledge with me, I truly I appreciate your help guys. I am happy with the results, after all is the first helmet I painted by myself (everything is hand painted, NO STICKERS). Anyway, here are some pictures from the helmet that I took today. Also I am adding some pictures of the process in painting the bucket.

Cheers

Looks great! Did you use the Humbrols or some US paint? If you used humbrols on the tubestripes that is the best result I've seen yet!

Very nice indeed.

Thanks for your kinds words guys, I really appreciate them, specially when they are coming from fans like you . By the way I used testor colors for the blue stripes (Ford&GM engine BLUE)and for the black. For the gray colors I used Humbrol #5.
Midnight Trooper I really liked it your HDPE helmet too :thumbsup , are you going to leave it permanently as a TD or a TK?

Cheers

Thanks. I havent decided yet.
I reeeally wanted to do a TK , but I never really got the shine I wanted from the white paint so I might keep it a TD.
I also have decided, while screen accurate, I dont like the fith tooth cut out.
I wouldnt have cut it out but the pull was so thin on the helmets left side that it had already pulled a hole in the plastic.

Now I'm holding out for a Gino.

I was not quite happy with the the shine on mine and I applied a pass of Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze and the results changed 100% . Give it a try.

I trtied Krylon paint on a dome, but when slightly flexed the paint started cracking. It was Krylon Fusion or something. You may want to check if Krylon's supposed to be as flexible as, say, Duplicolor.

Superb job Armando. The paint work looks fantastic mate, well done!

That is a seriously nice helmet you have there. You've done a great job and you should be proud of yourself, it's awesome.

Thanks again guys for your nice coments. The truth is that it took more time than I spected but I think at the end off the end of the day what it matters are the final results and I am happy with them. I had to painted white twice since the white paint looked bad in some key areas( it looked like orange peel) so I had to remove it and start again from scratch.
Paul thanks for your kind words it means a lot to me, thanks again for your help.

Mac I did not experienced any craking using Krylon fusion on a dome or mask. It is true that the undercut area requires some love since it is very thing and fragile but once you add the neck trim that problem almost disapears completly. Also it depends what uses you give to the helmet, mine is in a display case, if you troop on it I guarantee that it will crack on many areas. I do not have any experince with other paint brands since this is the very first helmet I have painted myself. To clearify I used white krylon fusion paint and for the final touch I applied a pass of Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze and so far it looks very solid.

Cheers
