This is a toy. No, seriously. This is a child's toy. And yet it is of such quality that it really shames the Rubie's Supreme Vader and a lot of the Rubie's and Don Post $50-range helmets and utterly spanks the Hasbro Darth Vader voice changer.

I purchased this for around $55 off eBay. I was very taken with the design, having seen this in a recent episode of Dr. Who where the Cybermen made an appearance in London, and my jaw just about dropped at seeing their amazing helmets and armor.

The construction is great and very well engineered. The pieces fit together very precisely. If you're not studied up on the prop, you'd think this was an original prop, though the differences I can spot are:

1. The back of the skull is only partially covered, leaving the back of your neck exposed
2. This is very symmetrical whereas the prop isn't
3. This is very tidied up, kind of idealized
4. The ears are shorter than the prop, and
5. The neck is very short as compared with the prop

Cyberman experts can probably find more issues with it, but the general public will probably be very taken with this. For me, it's a great display piece.

This piece has me thinking that a skullcap extension could theoretically be built, but you'd have a hard time putting it on. Then matching the paint would be a challenge.

I could do it if I had the right photo references.

Looks nice... but how does it relate to this Cyberman helmet?: http://www.propmasters.net/product_info ... cts_id=932

Which is more accurate... or... is the two from different seasons?

I bought my nephew one of these and to be honest it is pretty brilliant considering it is cheap and great fun.

The real deal ones that are on sale look fantastic but aren't in my price range for the moment.

Cheers Chris.

Yes, there were several designs over the years, as they were featured in Dr. Who from time to time.

For example:

The voice-changer helmet is based on the latest iteration of the Cyberman.

It's not entirely accurate but it's close. The neck should be longer, and the ear pieces should be longer as well. It's a bit too much a hassle for me to modify this to make it accurate but perhaps one day when I have time....
