Saw this ILM RotJ tour helmet, but though it was strange that it sported an ANH dome.

Cool. Thanks for sharing. I doubt very much that dome and helmet are supposed to fit together. They seem like from 2 different sources.

Another Touring Helmet and hard parts up for auction through Heritage on May 31st 2024. Lots of great pics:

Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi (TCF, 1980, 1983), Original Studio-Sanctioned N.J. Farmer "Darth Vader" Promotional Helmet, Shoulder Armor and Chest Box. Prior to the release of Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back in 1980, Lucasfilm UK authorized Nicholas J. Farmer of N.J. Farmer Associates LTD. in England to create complete touring costumes of the iconic "Darth Vader" character. Farmer contacted David Middleton, the credited construction storeman on The Empire Strikes Back at Pinewood Studios, who released one of the original Darth Vader costumes used in the film in order for Farmer to make the master molds and patterns necessary to create touring costumes for the film's premiers in select major markets and press appearances. This specific helmet matches the early examples created to go on tour in May 1980 to coincide with the release of The Empire Strikes Back, and it was later used in the promotion of The Return of the Jedi in 1983. This studio-sanctioned touring ensemble includes the following elements of one of the greatest all-time villains in cinema history: (1) Signature two-piece helmet consisting of a fiberglass dome and facemask (each marked "3" "14" on the interior and secured together with two-ring mount), expertly painted high-gloss black with metallic gray accents and machined aluminum billet sensors, dual-layer metal grilles, cast acrylic lenses and elastic straps to fit the actor, (1) fiberglass shoulder armor with hinged pauldrons, and (1) fiberglass chest box with attached leather straps. These fiberglass components are painted and polished to a very high standard, just as the screen-used components were. These production-authorized signature Darth Vader elements are tied to the promotion of arguably the greatest science fiction franchise in film history. Helmet measures 11.5" x 12.5", shoulder piece measures 7.5" tall, 22" wide and 11" deep, and chest box measures 7" x 6.5" x 1.5". Wear includes minor chipping and surface cracking.

That ANH dome is very compelling, are there any photos of the interior?
