Post subject:  Interesting Don Post Vader Mask

Bought this mask in 77/78 from the local comic book store. Has a mouth piece that is removable. Also, the "20th Century Film 1977" hand written with a hot pen. This is a Don Post Studio Mask.

Cool, yes that's the first version of the DP Standard helmet. They were slush cast and hand trimmed. The second version was injection molded. The version you have often has a Don Post sticker on the inside of the face mssk.

That's awesome! I still have my DP Standard that I got back in 1982 :) I have a soft spot for the lowly DP Standard because it was my first Vader helmet. One of these days I mean to do a blog history of the Standard line going over all of the variations.

You know I still have my DP Standard too, from 1980. It has the rounded silver-painted tusks which were later changed to flat. And mine has the lower 3mm of the widows peak missing from when my youngest nephew dropped it about 20 years go. We haven't spoken since that day (just kidding). I just refer to mine as a ESB-modified DP Standard.
